Dunn Out, Pfeiffer Up, at White House Communications Shop

November 10, 2009 11:51 AM

Anita Dunn, the White House communications director, is leaving the White House at the end of the month, sources tell ABC News. She will remain a consultant to the White House advising with long-term communications planning and other strategic issues.

Dunn will be replaced by the deputy communications director, Dan Pfeiffer.

Dunn’s departure was expected; she came on board temporarily earlier this year when communications director Ellen Moran left for a more family-friendly position at the Department of Commerce. Dunn, who advised then-Sen. Obama during the campaign, always said she was here temporarily because she wants to spend more time with her teenage son.

Pfeiffer, a Georgetown alumnus from Delaware, originally worked for the presidential campaign of Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind, but became the Obama campaign communications director after Bayh dropped out. He has worked for former Senator Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-SD, and Sen. Tim Johnson, D-SD, and is married to Sarah Feinberg, senior advisor to chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and a special assistant to the president.

There have been discussions at the White House about Dunn’s husband, Bob Bauer, replacing White House counsel Greg Craig. Today’s move presumably makes that switch more likely.

I guess G. Beck was instrumental in having Anita Dunn removed as the WH communication director for her statement that she is an admirer of communist dictator Mao.

Hey Tierra....I really don't know what Fox News and/or G. Beck had to say about Dunn....I have folks like you to keep tabs on the onn-political gems that go on in, BUT I have been in awe of Ms. Dunn's temporary position in the West Wing ever since she got the job. I thought at first that she was sort of a college summer intern or something, and as she opened her mouth more often during her tenure, I researched just who she was (try it sometime, it works), and I was able to flesh out who she is...who her husband it....and added it to my collection of facts about the strange bedfellows our POTUS has made to staff his beleagured Administration.....so I guess I had better turn on G. Beck more often.....like good old Smokey the Bear says, "...where there's smoke, there's fire....".

Thanks for the tip.

Re: "which is different from the "certificate of live birth"),released to the public."

Obama has released the OFFICIAL birth certificate of Hawaii. (http://www.starbulletin.com/columnists/kokualine/20090606_kokua_line.html). And, as that article says, it is the only birth certificate that Hawaii now issues. It no longer sends out copies of the long-form birth certificate.

The Wall Street Journal commented:

"Obama has already provided a legal birth certificate demonstrating that he was born in Hawaii. No one has produced any serious evidence to the contrary. Absent such evidence, it is unreasonable to deny that Obama has met the burden of proof. We know that he was born in Honolulu as surely as we know that Bill Clinton was born in Hope, Ark., or George W. Bush in New Haven, Conn.'

FOX nails another one.

For a non-news network they sure do expose the non-news-worthy truth about the players in this administration.

I am wondering when the other media is going to start doing their jobs as well. I like FOX and I like that they are not really a news-network and keep the pressure on this administration.

frank the 54% is quoted directly from TODAY'S Gallup poll so your 'lying' accusations rather point back in your own direction.

You can find the poll on line under Gallup.

If this had been about Bush's cabinet, the media would've led with"Another One Bails on Bush". FOr O'Bama, it's warm fuzzy story about a mother who wants to return to her mothering duties. Bull! And I thought that Obama was going to rise above cronyism - he's hiring friends just like the rest of 'em. I'm getting more dienchanted with that guy every day.

Interesting that you define the mainstream of America as the "center" politically. It's not a political term. Look it up. They have Internet access in your country, right?

the merits of Pol Pot, Joseph Stalin, etc. Then we will see a quick internal

named to the post. Obama's got hundreds

tierra: And 58% of Americans believe the Next President will be Republican..And I am one of them! And 40% of Americans Strongly Disapprove of Obama's performance ..And I am one of them! Overall 52% of Americans disapprove of Obama's Performance.. And I am one of them...

it is amazing how Obama takes care of his friends and how these people are all interconnected. Dunn's husband apparently works for a lawfirm who defends Obama from being able to prove his citizenship and even real name (and/or name changes). The new appointee is married into the Emmanuel dynastic order. And all seem to get funding from government largess or Democratic circles. It is like Obama transport the corrupt patronage system of Chitown to DC- not that DC needed much help in corruption, nepotism, and the like!
