Palin on 9/11 Defendants: 'Hang 'Em High'

November 13, 2009 10:35 PM

On her Facebook page, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin criticizes the decision of President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to prosecute some of the 9/11 conspirators.

In a Friday post titled "Obama Administration's Atrocious Decision," Palin writes: "Horrible decision, absolutely horrible. It is devastating for so many of us to hear that the Obama Administration decided that the 9/11 terrorist mastermind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, will be given a criminal trial in New York. This is an atrocious decision."

She expresses concern that the alleged mastermind "may walk away from this trial without receiving just punishment because of a 'hung jury' or from any variety of court room technicalities. If we are stuck with this terrible Obama Administration decision, I, like most Americans, hope that Mohammed and his co-conspirators are convicted. Hang ‘em high."

She says "this trial venue adds insult to injury, in addition to compromising our efforts in the War on Terror."

Her concerns, she says, include that "Heaven forbid our allies see this decision as a reason to become less likely to support our efforts in the future."

She adds, "Criminal defense attorneys will now enter into delaying tactics and other methods in the hope of securing some kind of win for their 'clients.' The trial will afford Mohammed the opportunity to grandstand and make use of his time in front of the world media to rally his disgusting terrorist cohorts. It will also be an insult to the victims of 9/11, as Mohammed will no doubt use the opportunity to spew his hateful rhetoric in the same neighborhood in which he ruthlessly cut down the lives of so many Americans."

I applaud Attorney General Holden's decision to try the accused, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, in NYC and in a civil court. And when I ask myself what might be the strongest blow against future terrorist recruitment, I have to think that it might be an American jury's refusal to convict because the available evidence and witnesses were compromised by our use of torture. Such an outcome may well do more to dissuade people from joining hate-America terrorist groups than than any conceivable military actions. Our true strength lies in upholding values of freedom and fairness that human beings worldwide naturally admire and respect.

I'm surprised that Sheriff Palin called for a Hanging. I'm sure she would rather volunteer to be on a Firing Squad. Everyone in America wants to see justice done in this instance. I'm sure the 9/11 Families have wanted to see these vermin get their just dues.It would be a great example to the world to see that these terrorists get what's coming to them, and done in the American Way under due process of Law; not Anarchy. As for Sheriff Palin, maybe her comments would carry more weight if she was an actual elected official

Why not give him a trial?
The 3000 victims of 9/11 received a great trial. It sends a great message to the next generation of Al-Qaeda terrorist that they too can commit atrocoties against the US and still have their day in court!

I'm not too worried about this decision, granted it is atrocious that it would ever be allowed for this terrorist to get a trial. If the legal system doesn't take care of him, I'm sure someone else will...

Sarah is right there to comment on every Obama administration decision. We need other high profile politicians doing the same. Maybe it's just Sarah's rock star status that gets her all the press. She must be driving the liberals crazy. You Go Girl!!!...read: Sarah Palin's appeal to the conservative man...at..

Dear Kent: FYI Pallin is not a governor anymore..she quit her job, remember, and I find it interesting that someone who could not stand up and fullfill her responsibilities to her state, has a right to criticize anyone, let alone a president. What exactly are her achievements? None. End of story...she is a non entity receiving way too much attention for the little she does.

“Enjoy the brief reversal while it lasts.”

Based on his record, I have little doubt that Rasmussen's* pendulum will quickly swing back to its favored position. However, Obama’s approval is at 50% again today. 49% disapprove. For the time being, Rasmussen* has joined virtually every other major pollster in giving the President a positive job approval spread. Obama haters can take solace in the +1 spread still being way out of range on the current RCP list of pollsters; +9 is the next lowest spread.

Hold on to your hats everyone. Rasmussen (choice pollster of conservatives) actually has Obama with a positive spread on his job approval rating today: 50% approve, 49% disapprove. First time Rasmussen has swung in that direction in over a month.

-- Enjoy the brief reversal while it lasts. I'm betting this poll was taken before Americans heard the news of Obama's bleeding-heart decision to give the 9/11 terrorists civil trials on U.S. soil.

A July 2008 Rasmussen poll pertaining to suspected terrorists found that "Seventy-one percent (71%) say the suspects should not be given the rights U.S. citizens have in court, while only 18% think they should."

Obama has just engineered what may be his administration's shark-jumping moment.

"Palin isn't the author of these posts. She's got a ghostwriter." -- Penelope

*** Hey, if Bill Ayers can ghost-write "Dreams of My Father," why would any Obama supporter care whether Palin does or doesn't author her own blog?

More to the point, like many who fear Palin's influence and desperately want to silence her, you're merely shooting at the messenger because you don't like the message.

Let's deal with the real topic at hand: Obama's inability to understand or care about the difference between foreign enemies and domestic defendants.

FDR knew the difference: Nazi saboteurs captured on U.S. soil were given a military tribunal, then executed.

Had Obama been president and Holder attorney general during World War II, they undoubtedly would have called off the downing of Admiral Yamamoto's plane ... reasoning that only a judge can impose the death penalty.

my goodness,... how come Reagan didn't know that a future terrorist was in America, what is wrong with Republicans, you can't trust them with America's security, why do they hate America?

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed

Attended North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, where he earned a mechanical engineering degree in 1986.

Not long after graduation, he traveled to Pakistan and Afghanistan to join the mujahedeen fighters, who at the time (President Reagan in power) were the beneficiaries of millions of dollars from the C.I.A. in the fight against Soviet troops.

"Seriously, is Governor Palin the only politician left in America who has a backbone?"

"Governor" Palin is no longer governor, remember? She quit so she wouldn't have to face an ethics investigation, remember?

"backbone", really. Honestly jenny, are you actually this unconnected from reality?

Major parts of Palin's new book are being called 'fabrications' and a 'narrative that is completely false' by the McCain Republican campaign.

I really wish reporters would stop attributing those FaceBook entries to Palin. I wish *one* journalist would simply use free, open-source authorship attribution software to demonstrate that Palin isn't the author of these posts. She's got a ghostwriter. Let's scientifically prove it so that we can drop the charade.

So why do they call Rudy Guliani "Mayor Guliani" "Mr. Mayor" etc. It's a common practice, like Speaker Gingrich. Sometimes they say "former."

I won't argue why she stepped down because you won't listen anyway. Continue to revel in your Palin Derangement Syndrome.

What if he's not the right one?
What if the military grabbed the wrong guy?
What if the guys who did this are still out there?

The whole point is that these guys are being held without the facts of their involvements being heard publicly in a trial, without the truth of what happened presented and sorted through.

When something happens you want to make sure you're catching, holding and punished the right people, don't you? C'mon, thats the reason for the trial, not to determine punishment.

To Hell with Palin, she's a redneck suburban egomaniac. Nothing she says has even any bearing on what she may have said a half hour ago, and I for one sure hope it has no bearing on what is happening with these people's lives.

I want to know what really happened, not how they can be used for political leverage in this megalomanic's ongoing personal fiction.

Why does Sarah Palin hate the U.S. judicial system? Does she have no faith in our system of government? If so, she should move to another country! Maybe Russia, since she can see it from her home state!
