Cynicism aside, it would be good to see some bipartisan work on the bills to help remove the underhanded deals caused because some of the Democratic senators used circumstances to advance their own goals. If the Republicans can offer intelligent criticisms and enhancements to what exists and the Democrats incorporate a reasonable number of the changes rather than demanding a restart, we would end up with a better bill.

Hopefully, this won't just be a delay and wasted effort for the American people or a ploy by either party.

All I am thinking about is that how come I see so many people on here saying that 70% of americans don't want this.

If Obama agrees to start over from scratch, then go ahead and have the meeting. Otherwise, it is merely a photo op and blame festival to rescue a healthcare proposal which has been overwhelmingly rejected by the American people--despite Obama's dozens of sales pitches.

It is sbout time someone stood up to those republicans who have been beating up on our president since the first week of his administration. Their goal is to get him to fail...however, they are not looking too good in the public's eye right now. They are afraid to participate in the health care seminar because they know Obama will tell it like it is...and they don't want to hear it so they are saying...unless you start from scratch. Are they crazy...many good things are in the bill and they have this opportunity to get their ideas in it. Obama will not say no to them at this point so they are missing a good opportunity to get their ideas included. That is, if they really care about the people or do they just care about themselves. They seem to be to be a bunch of whiners and have not stopped since the day they lost. It is time to stop whinning and get busy if they have so many good ideas. It's put up or shut up time ..republicans.

In my opinion, he is not interested in working with them, just in scoring cheap debating points in the hope of rallying the public against them.

They should take a lesson from Bush the Senior who met with Democrats in a neutral location to work together on budget issues and agreed to go along with their demands to delay some of Reagan's tax cuts in exchange for some sending cuts.

Well the delay in tax cuts took place, the spending cuts did not, the economy suffered, and the Democrats used his "broken promise" of "no new taxes" to defeat him in the next election.

Of course after Mr. Clinton won that election, the first item of business for him and the Democrats was to raise taxes steeply.

Of course the Republicans haven't been a lot better. Democrat = tax and spend.

There was no pivot after the SOTU only rhetoric. There are real issues as the 39% (and your own 40%) increase shows and fluff meetings only continue to undermine them.

Maybe regulation would help.. maybe not. The GOP will show up, maybe he can serve them cookies (as he has in the past).. but they show up with their pockets full of PAC dollars.. they can't move.

The reason he couldn't run this bill through last were the deal breakers in his own party. Then it really soured against the dems when the vote-buying started. In 8 months the dems are likely to lose the senate, it'll be pretty apparent, one way or other, in 5 or 6 months. Dems aren't the only ones up for re-election.

Many of these people who truly need healthcare that is adjusted to their income. Do work. Health comes first. Everybody knows this. If you dont pass this then the economy will never get back on it's feet. People will be spending all their many on unreasonable high health insurance. So, The Hospitals and Insurance companies will make out like bandit.

This just doesn't give it out. It makes a plan to where you can pay for it. If your income is nothing. Then you pay nothing.

So what, I rather have my insurance lowered, and allow SOME people free insurance.

Obama, wants this passed so people will actually be able to spend their money somewhere else, but still get their quality care that everybody deserves to have.

Now that your money is saved. What would you like to spend it on?

I do not want to give 30 million people free health insurance. I want then to pay for an affordable plan that may be bare bones, and that keeps then away from the emergency rooms when they get a cold. I want the government to get America back to work so the people can get jobs and afford a healthcare plan.
I also want the free cell phones taken away from the welfare recipients and limit welfare.
