Indonesia Filmmaker Shooting 'Little Obama' Film

Earlier this month filmmaker Damien Dematra began shooting "Little Obama the Movie" in Bandung city, Indonesia. Dematra says the film will wrap on June 3 and will be ready for nationwide release on June 17, around the time of President Obama's visit to Indonesia.

Publicity materials for the film say it’s “expected to become an inspiration for children to keep the dreams. Just like Obama’s dreams while he was still a kid and staying with his parents in Menteng neighborhood, Central Jakarta…it delineates the childhood of Obama. There were many perspectives about Obama’s childhood while he was staying with Lolo Soetoro and Ann Dunham in Menteng. There were also his friends—Slamet, Yuniardi, Rebecca, Sonny, and they have their sides of stories from their point of views. There are human sides, closeness, emotional sides, and opinions that lay out inspirationally.”

Below are some photographs from Dematra’s website of 12-year-old Hasan Faruq, who plays the young Barack Obama, and others.
