ABC News’ Karen Travers reports:
White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett downplayed talk of a job promotion during an appearance on ABC’s “The View” this morning.
“View” host Barbara Walters noted that with the possibility of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel leaving Washington to run for mayor of Chicago, many people feel that Jarrett could be promoted to his position.
At first Jarrett tried to laugh it off.
“Let’s slow down a minute. What I said at the beginning [of the interview] in terms of what I do - I love my job,” the long-time Obama family friend said. “I would like to just do what I’m doing.”
But Walters pressed the issue. “I’m going to try one more time – will you take the job if offered?” she asked.
“No, I’m just saying - I want to do what I’m doing,” Jarrett said. “I don’t want to change jobs. I love my job.”
