President Obama will get back to his daily schedule by receiving his morning briefings, along with the Vice President from the Oval Office and in the Roosevelt Room. In the afternoon, the President will award Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta, U.S. Army, the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry.
"Staff Sergeant Giunta will receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions during combat operations against an armed enemy in the Korengal Valley, Afghanistan in October 2007," the White House says.
In an East Room ceremony the president will award the medal to Giunta with his wife, parents, and friends in the audience.
In the afternoon Mr. Obama will meet privately with Senator Robert Menendez and Representatives Nydia Velazquez and Luis Gutierrez of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in the Oval Office.
Later in the afternoon, the President will meet one-on-one and behind-closed-doors with Secretary of Defense Gates in the Oval Office.
