Gitmo Detainees Intend to Plead Not Guilty in U.S. Court


The five detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay who will soon be brought to the U.S. for trial -- Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid bin Attash, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali , Ramzi bin al-Shibh, and Mustafa al-Hawsawi – intend to plead not guilty, an attorney for one of the defendants confirmed to ABC News’s Jason Ryan over the weekend.

Obama Administration: Guantanamo Detainees Have More Rights than Bagram Detainees, Who Have None


Whatever limited rights detainees at Guantanamo have under the U.S. Constitution, the Obama administration argued in a brief filed last night, they are not shared by detainees in Afghanistan.

ABC News Exclusive: National Security Adviser Says President Obama Is Having Greater Success Taking Terrorists Out of Commission Than Bush Did


Responding to criticism from former Vice President Cheney that President Obama is making the nation more vulnerable to terrorism, the president’s National Security Adviser, Gen. Jim Jones (Ret.), told ABC News in an exclusive interview that actually the reverse is true: President Obama’s greater success with international relations has meant more terrorists put out of commission.

Gates Says "Modest" Accelerated Pullout From Iraq Possible


Defense Secretary Robert Gates said that US troops may pick up the pace of withdrawing from Iraq this year. Gates said yesterday he has been "heartened" by progress since US troops pulled out of Iraqi cities a month ago, allowing Iraqi forces to assume more responsibility for security.
