Boehner Tells Hannity: GOP Has Lost House Seat in Florida
October 02, 2006 5:23 PM
ABC's Teddy Davis reports: In a radio interview with Sean Hannity, House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) said he thinks the GOP has lost a seat in Florida.
"I think they found a candidate to put on the ballot," Boehner told Hannity. "But in order to vote for this candidate, you have to vote for Mark Foley. How many people are going to hold their nose to do that?"
"So you think you lost a seat here?" Hannity asked.
"I do," said Boehner.
Boehner's assessment of the difficulty of the GOP winning Florida's 16th congressional district given that Foley's name will remain on the ballot comports with what independent analysts have said. But at a time when the Florida Republican Party is doing its best to rally around state Rep. Joe Negron as its replacement nominee, the Majority Leader's comment has to be seen in a demoralizing light from a Republican standpoint. Democrats need a net gain of 15 House seats to win majority control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

I'am very disturbed by the direction of the article. The focuse should be on the deviant perverse act directed at our childrens and not the winning or losing a congressional seat. I am very happy that this person, and I use that word loosely, has been uncovered and with any luck will never harm any of our childrens! Isn't that a good thing, or should we defend him because he's a Republican or a Democrat, I think not!!!

There are some of us who feel, at any cost, Jeb was too anxious to have a Republican hold onto a seat. Maybe Jeb's brother swings the homosexuality trump card with Karl Rove , but Jeb will not deny the act, or vocalize his disdain for predatory Foley.
I am sure if the Press is looking for emails, they won't get them.
And like my three year fight for mediation to received the PSC's emails of Harold McLean and Lila jaber's deals for big business, Charlie Crist's office said the legislature doesn't give them the power to make departments be in compliance of Florida statutes 286, 119, and 257, The Sunshine Law. A pity. Our impotent Attorney General.
I guess we bring home Jeb and W's "bacon", no one is supposed to care what we do. The Republican party shouldn't decide in advance, who should run unopposed for office. It allows a sense of entitlement for incumbents.

Although I am a democrat and have been a democrat all of my life, I must say I respect Rep Boehner. His obligation to inform the House Speaker of this action by a member representative was totally appropriate and as such he fullfilled his oblication. Where are the family values at that stood so high on the Republican's agenda? Have we gotten so greedy that we just put family values on a back burner when a child is being prodded as such? I actually feel sorry for Mr. Foley that even his own party wouldn't have asked him to seek some help and to let this flow the way it should. The responsibilities of the people that represent us has gone to hell in a basket. Please Please correct these serious problems and let's get this country rolling in the right direction.
