Sheriff Running For Congress Becomes Latest Democrat to Air Foley Ad
October 16, 2006 8:50 AM
ABC's Teddy Davis reports: Sheriff Brad Ellsworth, the Democrat running for Congress in Indiana's eighth congressional district against Rep. John Hostettler (R-IN), has become the latest Democrat to air an ad touching on the congressional page scandal. LINK
While wearing his sheriff's uniform, Ellsworth says from behind the wheel of a car: "I see the world as a sheriff, not a politician."
A narrator then explains that Ellsworth thinks the US needs change from "politicians breaking laws and covering up the worst kind of crime." These words are set against video footage of former Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) and House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL), who has been accused of ignoring warnings his staff received about Foley.
Other Democrats in toss-up races who have aired Foley-related ads include Mary Jo Kilroy, who is running against Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-OH) in Ohio’s 15th district, Patty Wetterling, who is running against Republican Michele Bachmann in Minnesota's sixth district, and Democrat Baron Hill, who is running against Rep. Mike Sodrel (R-IN) in Indiana's ninth district.
