Bush Warns of North Korean Nuclear Threat
November 16, 2006 8:38 AM
ABC News' Karen Travers Reports: Speaking at the National University of Singapore, President Bush warned that the most immediate threat of nuclear proliferation in this region comes from North Korea.
"America's position is clear: the transfer of nuclear weapons and material by North Korea to states or non-state entities would be considered a grave threat to the United States and we would hold North Korea fully accountable for the consequences of such action," Bush said. "For the sake of peace, it is vital that the nations of this region send a message to North Korea -- that the proliferation of nuclear technology to hostile regimes or terrorist networks will not be tolerated."
The President will meet in the coming days with the leaders of the other four nations that are U.S. allies in the Six Party talks on North Korean nuclear proliferation -- Japan, South Korea, Russia and China.
Bush was not all gloom and doom -- he said that North Korea's recent indication it would return to the Six Party talks was "an encouraging step."
"The United States wants these talks to be successful and we will do our part: if North Korea chooses a peaceful path, America and our parties in the Six Party talks are prepared to provide security assurances, economic assistance and other benefits to the North Korean people."
"Ultimately the success of these talks depend on the regime of North Korea. Pyongyang must show its serious and taking concrete steps to implement its agreement to give up its nuclear weapons and weapons programs."

Once again, a semi-real mostly fabricated Bush scare tactic.
Bush wanted just a few weeks ago for everyone to be scared of Iran, now we are considering going to them hat-in-hand asking for a diplomacy handout in Iraq????
One can not declare EVERYONE an enemy, and then expect them to play nice. If the GOP ever expects to be leaders again, they'd better learn to lead. Shame on The GOP for such lame, dangerously myopic NON-leadership.
