Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) has issued a paper statement making clear his intention to run for House Majority Leader.

This will put him into a race against Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), the current Democratic Whip.

While Murtha is better known nationally as a result of his high-profile change of heart on the Iraq war, Hoyer has a longer record of raising money for fellow Democrats and collecting chits.

I think he'll go a great job. His brother, Robert Murtha, is a Washington lobbyist whose firm reeled in more than $20 million for its defense contractor clients in the 2004 Defense appropriations bill. John is the ranking Democrat on the Defense appropriations subcommittee. The two of them together, forget about it.

Representative Murtha is a straight shooter and works hard for his constituants. He'd be great in any office he holds. He always has my vote!

Murtha is the man, he has the guts to say what he means and mean what he says. If Pelosi does not have the cajones to put the thugs (Bush, Cheny, Rove, Rumsfeld) in a jail cell, Murtha does.
