As GOP Focuses on Kerry, DCCC Ads Seek Focus on Iraq
November 02, 2006 9:55 AM
ABC News' Teddy Davis and Karuna Seshasai Report: As Republicans focused their earned media efforts on Sen. John Kerry's (D-MA) troop remark, Democrats stepped up their paid media attacks Wednesday on Republicans for supporting President Bush's Iraq policy.
The DCCC did this through a small national cable buy as well as several candidate-specific attacks.
In the DCCC's national cable ad, a narrator says "with 2800, Americans already dead and 20,000 injured. With the nation's intelligence agency saying our occupation in Iraq has worsened the terrorist threat, with the White House in denial, while top generals warn that Iraq might be sliding into a full scale civil war -- tell Congress it's long past time to put down their rubber stamp and ask the hard questions about Iraq."
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Launches National Cable Ad on Iraq.
The DCCC also launched several new candidate-specific attacks on the Iraq war yesterday.
These ads include attacks on Rep. Heather Wilson (R-NM), Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA), Rep. Rob Simmons (R-CT), Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-PA), Colorado Republican Rick O'Donnell, and Iowa Republican Mike Whalen. In addition to the DCCC's candidate-specific attack on Rep. Simmons, it also has a separate television ad that goes after both Rep. Simmons and neighboring Rep. Nancy Johnson (R-CT).
"Despite their fairly lame attempt to use the media to make the week before the election about the comments of one man," DCCC spokeswoman Sarah Feinberg told ABC News, "the rest of the country is focused on the need for a new direction in Iraq."

I just hope that the American people when they go out to vote remember the spin, lies, and actions that have finally been brought out in the open and realize that a total change needs to happen in the Congress and Senate.
They also need to keep in mind that Kerry is not on the ballot....he just left out the word US.....and actually we can all be considered stupid if we don't change the way our country is going.

Yes, The Republican Party expects to get a lot of mileage from Kerry. But Americans are smart enough to figure out it is one big divesion from Iraq. Americans are sick of one liners from the White House and are looking for real leadership, and if the Dems can get the message out they will win. The only problem with the democrats is they are not as good at Republicans at using the media to get their message out.

The Republican hate machine has been flailing without a recognizable democratic leader to attack in this campaign. Their reaction to Kerry's remarks shows their desparation to demonize someone in the opposition, rather than, as incumbents, run on the disaterous record they've amassed.
Kerry may have botched a joke, but the Republicans have botched a war -- it's up to the voters to decide which is more serious.

A message to all intelligent people:
GET OUT THERE AND VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRATS NEXT WEEK!
No matter what your political affiliation, vote for the Democrat running in your state.
Independants, non-voters, and Green Party people, this means you. Heck we'll even take those who have previously voted for GOPs, and have now realized this may have been a mistake.
I know the Democrats don't have the best "product" but its the only one that can put the GOP criminals out on the street where they belong. Any votes for non-Democrats is a vote for the GOP. Is this what you want?
Vote your conscience later on down the road, cause we are out of time, and now is the time to save our country.
I call upon each and every one of you who is smart enough to not vote GOP, and who during the last 2 presidential elections have cast their vote for a candidate other than Democrat or GOP, to put aside your distrust of the Dems and just vote for them.
If you don't heed my advice you will only have yourselves to blame for the future. I don't mean the future 20, 30, or 50 years from now.
The future is NOW SO GET OUT THERE AND VOTE DEMOCRAT.
How much more of this CRAP are you gonna be able to take?
There's only 1 way out of this mess and its to put our faith in the Dems for at least 2 years. We need this much time to clean the sewer known as Capitol Hill and all of the GOP turds that are in it.
IF nothing else, don't you want to see the look on george's face and hear is whiny, wimpy lies/excuses on Wednesday when he learns his precious "rubber stamp" is gone?
VOTE DEMOCRAT AND LETS TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK FROM THE SCUM WHO HAVE RUINED OUR COUNTRY AND OUR LEGACY!
(A public service message brought to you by Bender)

I think the best thing for people to remember -- if we want change we have to vote for it! Otherwise we have accepted the status quo!

IF HE WANT'S TO HELP THE DEMOCRAT'S HE SHOULD REFRAIN FROM TELLING ANY MORE JOKE'S. I JUST CAN'T SEE HOW ANY ONE COULD TAKE WHAT HE SAID AS A JOKE.

Every time the Republican talk about Kerry, all i think of is more lies, lies, lies. Reminds me of the same lies that got us into Iraq and 3000 soldiers killed.

John Kerry is blasted for his remarks but House Majority Leader John Boehner has finally put to rest the myth of the liberal press. Mr. Boehner said the mess in Iraq is not Rumsfeld's fault it is the General's. Mr. Boehner has just excused the Bush administration for this catastrophy and put the blame on the military and the press is not questioning his patriotism. The press has to be controlled by the Republican party.

I am a vet having served from 1989 to 2000 in the US Army. Having participated in the first gulf war and later in a police action in the former Yugoslav republic has changed my views on the military and the current war in Iraq. I will always support the troops and during my service would have sacrificed myself for my fellow man or woman, but this war cannot continue without a clear vision for turning over the leadership to the Iraqi people. Message to John Kerry "please don't help the GOP anymore, keep your mouth shut" Do I know that voting in a Democratic house and senate will change the outcome of the war in Iraq? No... Do I think that we need different leadership that will not stay the course.. Yes.. My vote is with the Dem's in 2006
God bless the men and women still fighting in Iraq.
Sincerely,
A concerned Vet

I am so glad that Iraq is the #1 issue on people's minds, especially going into this very important election. It portrays the love and admiration we have for our fighting forces. As a combat veteran, Vietnam Tet Offensive Hue City, I know exactly what our troops are going through. This"house to house" fighting is not fun, believe me. Our troops are keeping their heads held high during some terrible, terrible times. When 70% of the Iraqis would like us to leave, When 60% of Iraqis say it's OK to kill Americans, when the Iraqis celebrate in the streets when an American is killed, it's time to bring the troops home.
Please, this is so important. The "Stay the Course" (even though he softened his rhetoric) plan will continue if we allow Congress and the Senate to remain under this dictators control.
Please do what is right.
Thank You
A Veteran who cares.

Maybe it's time to remind the Republican Party where a good portion of the WMD came from in the first place, the United States of America under the administrations of Reagan and Bush. (See 1992 Senate Banking Committee Hearings and the class action lawsuits filed by Gulf War Veterans)
Or, maybe remind the Republicans next time they say Dems "cut and run" of Sen. Frist's comments during his recent visit in Afghanistan wherein he admitted we cannot win there militarily and said must welcome the Talban back into the Afghanistan government. I personally took his comments to be a slap in the face to the troops who fought and died in Afghanistan.
Even IF both wars were completely justifed, the incompetence of this administration has made any victory impossible. Now we have Iraq telling us we can't even look for a kidnapped soldier and must back out of a good portion of Baghdad - Yet not a peep from the Cowboy in Chief. We have Bush overruling experts and posting detailed documents on U.S. government sites on how to build nuclear and chemical bombs in a poor attempt to justify his reasons for war. We have this administration saying Iraq is progressing while our military experts say it is descending into chaos.
We now have the Inspector General of Iraq Reconstruction being handed a pink slip because he did his job and reported honestly about the world record breaking reconstruction fraud in Iraq. How many others have had their careers suicided by Bush for doing their job? Sanchez.. the young military attorney who sucessfully defended Laden's driver...anyone remember the Kentucky General whose career went in the can because he dared to fight for suicide bomber training after it had been deleted as "unnecessary" from the early pre-war games? How many will lose their careers if they stand up to Bush to fight for DU benefits for our troops?
Now our president is considered as dangerous to peace as Bin Laden and Kim Jong-il in other countries, but it will be the American citizens and our troops that pay the price.
We can't afford two more years of Bush. For the safety and survival of the United States, he needs to be put on a short leash. Please vote Democrat, no matter your party, at least until we get a balance of power back in Washington. Please join the fight to have vunerable computer e-voting machiens taken out of our election system nationwide. Voting Dem this election and dumping Diebold is our best chance to keep our democracy.
Please vote for strong and immediate change.
