First Couple on Tornado Watch
December 29, 2006 4:32 PM
ABC News' Geoff Morrell Reports: A late afternoon off-camera press briefing by Deputy Press Secretary Scott Stanzel revealed an interesting detail about the President's day on his Crawford Ranch.
After a tornado touch down near the Bush's Texas ranch this afternoon, the President, First Lady and their dogs were moved near the ranch's tornado shelter. They remained in an armored vehicle near the door of the shelter prepared to enter the shelter if necessary.
Once it was determined the storm wouldn't harm the First Couple they resumed their day on the ranch, which, for the President, included clearing cedar.
The President received a few phone calls, as well, including one from British PM Tony Blair, who is vacation in Miami. The two leaders discussed the situation in Iraq.
