Romney Boasts His "Right" Record

ABC News' Tahman Bradley Reports: Since the presumed 2008 frontrunners in the race for the GOP nomination for president John McCain and Rudy Giuliani are more liberal than most Republican conservatives, Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has been trying to prove that should he decided to run, he is the "right's" man.
In the forthcoming edition of the National Review, Romney tries to clear up ambiguity about his stance on social issues telling reporter Kathryn Jean Lopez that he has been consistent on same-sex marriage and that the Republican party should remain a pro-life party.
When questioned about a 1994 remark in which Romney said that he believed abortion should be safe and legal, Romney told the National Review, "My position has changed and I have acknowledged that…But I do believe that the one-size-fits-all, abortion-on-demand-for all-nine months decision in Roe v. Wade does not serve the country well…."
On the issue of gay-marriage Romney told National Review, "Like the vast majority of Americans, I've opposed same-sex marriage, but I've also opposed unjust discrimination against anyone, for racial or religious reasons, or for sexual preference."
Romney has said that he will wait until he leaves office the first week in January before he announces 2008 intentions.
