Thompson and Hunter to Iowa

ABC News' Tahman Bradley Reports: With the national media in a swirl of speculation over the presidential intentions of the Republican trio of McCain, Giuliani, and Romney, two lesser known candidates likely to seek the 2008 GOP nomination for president are heading to Iowa hoping to gain some attention.
Former Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson and California Congressman Duncan Hunter will both be in Iowa this weekend as both men mull over a run for the White House.
Hunter who is chairman of the House Armed Services Committee will attend a breakfast and pheasant hunt in Baxter, Iowa on Saturday while Thompson continues his visit a few days after delievering an address Wednesday in Des Moines.
Also, earlier in the week, Thompson filed papers with the Federal Elections Commission to setup a presidential exploratory committee, a move that will allow him to begin fundraising and assembling a staff. Duncan Hunter announced his intentions to file papers with the FEC to establish an exploratory committee in late October.
Joe Kasper, a spokesman for Hunter says that a Hunter presidential campaign will emphasize his ideas on national border security and highlight the congressman's socially conservative record.
Longtime Thompson political advisor Tony Jewell tells ABC News that the former Wisconsin governor is "a main stream conservative with proven results" both as a governor and a cabinet secretary in the Bush administration. Jewell also says that a Thompson presidential campaign would focus on healthcare, energy, and education.
Note: Iowa is not the Buckeye State.
