Red Sox Pitcher Curt Schilling On a Capitol Hill Roster?
January 29, 2007 5:50 PM
Chatter about Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling taking on Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass) in the 2008 Senate race reached a dull roar this week
Schilling wears his politics on his sleeve: He endorsed President Bush in 2004 on Good Morning America saying, "Make sure you tell everybody to vote. And vote Bush. Next week." And he wasn't afraid to take his message to the streets, stumping for the President that year following the World Series.
The Red Sox pitcher didn't completely rule it out telling the Boston Herald he couldn't "because it’s not something I ever thought about in a serious capacity.”
“I envision that I will probably be pretty busy in 2008,” he said. “But I’m flattered as hell to even make this phone call.”
Schilling announced today that he will not only play baseball this year but in 2008…making a Senate run all the more difficult.
