Edwards On Greatest Threat To World Peace
February 20, 2007 6:14 PM
ABC News' Jennifer Parker Reports: The presidential campaign office of former Senator John Edwards, D-N.C., today refuted a story reportedly published in Variety, and picked up by the National Review Online, suggesting Senator Edwards said the greatest short-term threat to world peace is the possibility that Israel would bomb Iran's suspected nuclear facilities.
John Edwards for President spokesperson Jonathan Prince released a statement today, saying the story inaccurately quoted the democratic presidential candidate.
"The January 19th Variety article is erroneous," said Prince. "Senator Edwards did not say nor does he believe that the greatest short-term threat to world peace is the possibility that Israel would bomb Iran's nuclear facilities."
"Senator Edwards said, as he has in the past, that Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon is one of the greatest short-term threats to world peace," said Prince.
The statement went on to outline Senator Edwards' plan for dealing with the threat of a nuclear Iran.
"The Bush Administration has failed to deal effectively with Iran," said Prince. "Instead of negotiating directly with Iran, the U.S. has left other world players to deal with an increasingly serious situation."
The Edwards campaign said the former senator believes the U.S. should be negotiating directly with Iran, and should offer incentives and money to Iran to stop development of nuclear weapons, and meet the country's energy needs.

It should be none of our business what Israel does. What have they done for US? The whole Middle East conflict started because of a tiny strip of land. Just give it up! What's the big deal??
