Edwards Says Country Needs "Someone Who Will Take Responsibility for Their Mistake"

ABC News' Paul Fidalgo Reports: Former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., began his moment in the spotlight at the AFSCME union's Presidential forum by touting his solidarity with the labor movement.

"I am proud to have stood, and always will stand, with my brothers and sisters in organized labor," said Edwards to great applause.

Edwards then set to distinguish himself from Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., first by boasting that he was the first candidate to come out with a "truly substantive health care plan," and contrasting his timetable for such a plan's implementation with Clinton's -- which she said she hoped to have in place by the end of her second term -- saying, "I want to start putting universal health care in place as soon as I am sworn in."

Edwards then used the example of President Bush to take a rhetorical swipe at Clinton, asserting that "after six years of a president who will take no responsibility for what he's done" and "incapable of admitting he was wrong, incapable of admitting that he has made a mistake," the country now needs "someone who will take responsibility for their mistake."

When asked by the event's moderator, ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, if his current position in Iraq did not, in itself, constitute political calculation, Edwards said that he would leave it to the voters to judge him, and that it was important for his campaign to "stand on a foundation of truth."

"I should never have given George Bush the authority I gave him in 2002," said Edwards.

Asked about America's place in the global economy, Edwards said, "We have to be smarter than we've been about the effects of globalization," and said one solution was to "be smarter, better educated, constantly pushing the envelope," and by encouraging more students to excel in science, technology, and math.

Edwards closed his appearance by telling the crowd of union activists, "I think we have reached a place in American history where small baby steps, incremental steps, are not enough. We need big, transformational change," so America can be the "great shining light that we used to be."

MY PRESIDENT IS FOR ALL THE BELOW

He is a Godly man.
He is a Family man.
He is Honest & Trust Worthy
He is a Statesman not a politician.
He will not support a party R or D.
He will support America only in all his Gov Functions.
His Cabinet will be chosen from the best men in America not party.
He will be a President that will invoke Checks and Balances in our Gov.
He will be a man that will spread Harmony through out our Gov.
I hope he will be a President that will encourage the Congress, Senate & Supreme court to do what is best for America in all cases with in the Law.
I hope he can get the Congress & Senate to unit and join to agree instead of condemning each other.
I hope he will be able to get the Supreme Court not to let one person take a way one of our Heritage as they did in taking Prayer out of school.
God give this person the wisdom to bring this United States of America back to where it was before World War II in a way that it will service the new generation as it should, and that it would tell the World we are back in a way that we are able to control our destiny as America should.
This is to any one that is elected President of this America or the United States.

Can you support the above out line of what I think the New President should accomplise and practice dureing their President period.

Hope these are princiles that would make this Amverica and Nation Under God know around the World again. God Bles all that you do. God Bless
