Obama Misses Black Caucus Meeting While Busy 'Trying to Replace the President'

ABC News' Jake Tapper Reports: Though he's a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., will not be participating in the group's afternoon meeting with President Bush due to a mix of previously scheduled official Senate and presidential campaign-related meetings.

An Obama aide tells ABC News that the senator has previously discussed matters of importance to the African-American community with the president. Last month Obama was part of a group of Senators who met with the president to discuss the Iraq war, and in 2005, on an Air Force One ride from Springfield, Illinois, to the Washington, DC, area, the two conversed about the crisis in Darfur.

"He's trying to replace the president, not just meet with him," an Obama aide says, in explaining the absence.

Barack Obama, a man with morals, integraty, and a hope for a new world. Which is desperately needed. Please stop calling him a black man. He is not black nor is he white, he is just a man who wants to make a difference.

Why can't people just leave race out of this!!! I am so frustrated at how ignorant people are. Why does color have to make a difference. HE IS A MAN WHO WANTS TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN.

WE CAN NOT SAY THIS ABOUT GEORGE W. BUSH. THIS MAN IS A DISCRACE TO MANKIND. HE IS EVIL , A LIAR, AND I TRULY BELIEVE THE ANTICRIST.

I AM SO FRUSTRATED, I WISH I COULD DESCRIBE HOW FRUSTRATED I REALLY AM.

BARACK OBAMA IS JUST A MAN! NOT A BLACK MAN AND NOT A WHITE MAN HE IS JUST A MAN AND I HOPE THAT THIS MAN WILL BECOME PRESIDENT. WE NEED HIM SO DESPERATELY. PLEASE PEOPLE WAKE UP BECAUSE LOOK WHERE OUR IGNORANCE HAS GOTTEN US SO FAR (GEORGE BUSH) AND THAT IS TRAGEDY THAT WILL TAKE YEARS TO OVERCOME, IF WE CAN OVERCOME IT AT ALL. WE NEED PEACE IN THIS WORLD.

SINCERELY,

MRS FRUSTRATED

He is a cool dude, it wouldn't be too bad to have black president or a woman for that matter.

To Mrs. Frustrated -

Then why is Obama a member of the Congressional (Democrat) Black Caucus? I don't see you pushing for him to quit this group who classifies people simply based on race. He is calling himself a black man by joining the Black Caucus.

Does anyone know ANYTHING about obama, except that the media loves him. His votes in the illinois Senate will DOOM him in a general election. Perhaps thats why the media refuses to ask him any questions other than..."can I have your autograph"?

A liberal black man will NEVER be elected president in this country....PERIOD! END OF STORY!!!!!

Any African American that is able to get elected will HAVE to be conservative.

People believed David couldn't win against Goliath (but he did). America should stand behind these words, "I am for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice no matter who it is for or against, as such I'm a human being first and foremost, and I'm for whoever and what ever benefits humanity as whole." Malcom X

The purpose of the Black Caucus meeting is because there still exist a racial divide in our country built on diversity. Why?
The Black Caucus only addresses the issues and tries to find solutions. I am sure there are many other group striving for the same thing - EQUALITY FOR ALL.

Yes people as African Americans, Blacks, People of Color - whatever you want to label us are faced with real challenges in both our professional and personal lifes just trying to live like everyone else. Please know that we still have much to overcome.

I thought the point of the blog is to address why the report exists about Obama not attending this meeting? Was it to have people believe he does not care enough to attend? What was the purpose?

So ask you reader who are not of the African American race, how would like to come to work and be told that "You looked African today and maybe you should have a bone in your hair" by your boss?
I was wearing basic black pants, a black shirt accented with a pretty, leopard print type jacket.

Reversing the comment, it could go something like: "You look like a Redneck today, maybe you should have a KKK sign on your chest?

I am the same complexion as Obama. My race is a mixture of black, Cherokee/Seminole Indian, Hispanic and White. Yet my birth certificate says I am NEGRO. I probably have more everything else in me than black, but who cares.
However, all people see is the blackness I possess - I guess.

So until we as a country see only people, groups such as the Black Caucus will exist until true equality is reached for ALL PEOPLE regardless of....... race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.....
