ABC News' Paul Fidalgo Reports: Gov. Bill Richardson. D-N.M., told ABC News Tuesday that his status as the lone governor in the Democratic presidential field is an asset he will take advantage of in his run for the White House.

"I'm a governor with a good record, with 84,000 new jobs created, with a successful state in improving education and health care," said Richardson. "I think the American people like CEO types, they like those balanced budgets. Governors have historically been elected as presidents.  I think that’s an asset."

"I have the executive experience that no other candidate has," said Richardson. "And so, am I gonna mention that? Yeah."

There was a time when the Democratic field was going to be filled with candidates boasting gubernatorial experience.  Former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner opted out of a presidential run in October of 2006.  Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., a former governor in his native state, dropped his bid in December, just two weeks after announcing he would form a presidential exploratory committee.  And only last week, former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack ended his cash-starved quest for the presidency, leaving New Mexico's Richardson as the last Democratic governor standing.

While talking with ABC News, Richardson made light of the perception that he lacks in star wattage as compared to Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

"I don't have the resources of the other candidates, or the rock star status," said Richardson before adding with a wry smile "though I'm probably way up there in that area, don't you think so?"

Ennio, cue "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" theme, please.

I am a Republican. I would vote for Governor Richardson for President as he is the only honest person in the whole lot. On the other end of the spectrum is Hilary, the biggest phony in the world. She does not have an honest bone in her whole body. Who would want to have an ugly woman as President. No wonder William plays around. Monica is only a little hit more attrative than Hilary. Beggars can't be choosy. Ugh!!!!!

RICHARDSON DIDN'T DO SO GOOD AS ENERGY CHIEF...................

I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I like to see myself more as a moderate when it comes to politics, so it is possible that I could vote either way for a presidential candidate in 2008. So far, Richardson has presented the most balance view of the most important issues of the day; e.g. Richardson stated he would bring more political and diplomatic initiatives and objectives to resolve the war in Iraq and the region. Stated he is for building a strong military along with building a more effective Department of State. Stated he is for focusing on the middle class. Believes in tax cuts and education to vitalize the economies of our nation. Stated is open in exploring other options in health care and wants a man on the moon effort to resolve our nation’s energy deficiencies. Richardson does have the experience that has afforded him to make a few mistakes along the way that makes him genuine executive. Bottom Line: I plan to vote for someone who is balanced and moderate, middle of the road in politics and quite tired of the ideologues of both the Republican and Democratic parties. I hope I have a choice….
