LA Gov Kathleen Blanco Expected Not to Run Again

ABC News' Avery Miller Reports: Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco will formally announce this evening that she will not seek re-election, numerous political sources tell WAFB 9NEWS.
Blanco was elected Governor of Louisiana in November 2003, becoming the first woman to ever hold the office . She gained national attention during the Hurricane Katrina crisis.
As recently as last week, Blanco said she would be a candidate. "My plan is to continue running," Blanco told reporters last Wednesday.
Former Democratic Senator John Breaux, D-LA, now a Washington-based lobbyist, is being talked about as the favorite to run for Governor. However, Breaux may have a bit of a political problem.
When he left the Senate, he allegedly registered in Maryland to vote since he and his wife made their Eastern Shore residence their main domicile.
You cannot run for governor in Louisiana if you have registered in another state within a certain time period. So the question now is whether he can figure out a way around it.
