Bush and Cheney Tax Returns
April 13, 2007 4:31 PM
ABC News' Ann Compton and Karen Travers Report: President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush's tax returns have been made public.
The First Family claimed an income of $642,000 and paid $186,000 in taxes.
They gave $78,000 to churches and charities such as the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department in Texas, Operation Smile, the Salvation Army, the Yellow Ribbon Support Center and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The Cheneys claimed an income of $1.6-million which included a pension. Vice-President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne paid $464,000 in taxes. The Cheneys gave $100,000 to charity, but for his entire vice presidential career, Cheney's charitable amount has reached $7.8million.

ABC, I am shocked. Shocked I tells ya.
Why the attempt to make Cheney look like he's charitable?
Everyone knows that Dick's "generosity" is simply a tax write off.
The guy made 7.8 million last year just from war-related kickbacks.

President John F. Kennedy donated all of his presidential income to charity...

Let's see, Cheney, in January of 2001, puts all of his halliburton stock options into the hands of an independent agent who has total control and discretion over when to exercise them, the only stipulation being that the funds go to the cardiothoracic institute of a hospital, a reading education fund for poor kids in DC and the University of Wyoming.
The administrator decides to exercise the options because of favorable tax treatment in 2005, like any proper fiducuary would. He also withholds money from the fund for quarterly tax payments, reducing the amount of money available for the charity. Cheney writes a personal check, essentially an interest free loan, to make that amount up.
About $6.8 million goes to charities.
Damn, now that is greedy, ain't it?
Try taking some meds for your BDS, fellahs; a bit of rational thinking would do you good.
