ABC News' Sunlen Miller Reports: Elizabeth Edwards reiterated her decision to remain campaigning for her husband and presidential contender Senator John Edwards saying, "What I want is to continue the campaign. I already have lost time to cancer. I am going to lose some time in the future to cancer. I just don’t want to lose today to cancer."

Appearing this afternoon on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show', in a pretaped segment conducted Tuesday in Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. Edwards spoke to her family's decision  to continue on in the presidential race after finding out in March that her stage four cancer had returned.

Making the decision less than twenty-four hours after her diagnosis, Mrs. Edwards said, "John first waited for me to say what I wanted ... he knows that I'm a fighter and unlikely to give into this. He asked me what I wanted to do and there was no question in my mind …this was something we dedicated ourselves to a long time ago."

What she wanted to do was to get back on the campaign trail and to have her husband continue his quest for the presidency.  What she wasn't prepared for was the public scrutiny she and Senator Edwards would receive.

"I was surprised and also a little disappointed ... we're a very judgmental society," she responded, and said she observed that people who had been through cancer with their own families understood their decision better.

When asked by Oprah about her current health Mrs. Edwards insisted that she'd had no physical symptoms and that she feels fine.

This week she received encouraging news from her doctor, who told her that she has a type of cancer that allows a bigger "smorgasbord and more artillery" of drugs to fight the cancer.

Appearing in a pale pink shirt the wife of the former senator from North Carolina appeared relaxed and happy, "I don't think that people understand, it's live until you die. However long it is … live until you die."

I think anyone who has lost a child, a teen or adult child -- has already suffered the worse thing in their life. What parent wouldn't trade their life for their child's in a heartbeat? I would have. Since the loss of my 21 year old son four years ago, I know that Elizabeth & John Edwards feel as I do, you have been to the mountain, nothing even compares, even comes close to living through that agony. The Edwards live their lives differently since the loss of their son, just as I have lived my life differently. If I have to face the years ahead without him, I am going to make it worth while, I am going to make a difference in the world around me. Edwards had my vote from 2004, he has it now.

I don't know why people should think that the Edwards life is over because her cancer is back. People with cancer have more alternatives than before. The Edwards should continue to focus on living and not on dying.

I hopes she looks into natural nutritional options. When the body has all the vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants it needs, it is capable of destroying anything, including cancer. They are in my prayers.
