Kucinich: Time to Impeach Bush?

April 06, 2007 7:05 AM

ABC News' Jennifer Duck Reports: Rep. Dennis Kucinich has been pressing voters on the campaign trail with a big question: "Impeachment...I'm asking you. Do you think it's time?"

Kucinich said he has heard from "tens of thousands and maybe over 100,000 people" who think the impeachment processes should proceed.

"I've listened carefully to what people have to say and I think within the next month I will be able to give my answer to the people in what I think is the appropriate way to proceed," Kucinich told ABC News after a speech in New Hampshire.

The Ohio Congressman / 2008 Presidential candidate first posed the question on his website over two weeks ago and started asking voters in person as he traveled from the West Coast east to New Hampshire this week.

Kucinich said the administration has threatened aggressive war against Iran, and this violates the UN Charter which is considered a treaty. "Article 6 of the Constitution of the United States says that treaties are the law of our land, the supreme law of our land. It's illegal to threaten aggressive war against another nation," he explained.

But Kucinich said he is taking caution that this does not become a partisan issue: "This can not be a partisan matter. This cannot be done out of anger. If one is to proceed he should proceed out of love of country--not anger."

Yes I do agree that he should be inpeached, but not only for threatening IRAN, what about us waging war on Iraq. The Administration gave false statements to congress and the public regarding the reasons for this invasion, which all altimately proofed to be false. He went and displayed a fantasy "Mission Accomplished" on the aircraft carrier-showing off again. The "mission" was not accomplished and we are still losing our soldiers and lets not forget all the innocent Iraq's that are dying.
I would support impeachment if only the Iraq issues with Vice President Cheney also.

Impeachment proceedings in my opinion are long overdue. The GOP was ready to cucify Clinton for lying about a personal matter - at least when Clinton lied nobody died. Too many of our young people and too many Iraqi innocents are dying because of Bush and his cronie's lies. Its time to stop the madness. Mr. Kucinich is right - although most Republican politicians probably think Bush should be impeached, they will be afraid to admit it so it most likely will end up a partisan issue even though Bush has ruined the Republican party along with America's standing in the world. Nevertheless, partisan or not, Bush should have been ousted a long time ago. This is the first time in my life I have been afraid for my country because of its poor leadership.

The Constitution, the basis of our Democracy, clearly calls for Impeachment for the crimes Bush has committed. Our forefathers are rolling in their graves over the abuses we have allowed happen in our Country.

Of course it is out of love of Country that we want to Impeach...love of Family, love of Country, and love of Humanity! We have to think about what kind of nation we are leaving to our Children.

These criminals - Bush and Cheney - must be impeached asap.

Bush and Cheney should
be impeached. Down the road all of
congress needs to be fired also. I
blame Pelosi for saying "Impeachment
is off the table". I think alot of
people are totally disgusted with our
government. We need some one who is
going to put our country back on track. Bush and Cheney should be put
in Jail!

Bill Clinton was impeached for nothing.(sex) The Bush Mafia has committed more than enough to be impeached for. Bush Group have destroyed United States both domestically and foreign policies. His policies has almost bankrupt our country. Impeach him and send him and Cheney back to the farm in Texas.

J.King this blog isn't meant to attack others opinions. The issue is on Kucinich and if it is "Time to Impeach Bush". If you don't have anything to say about that... then shut up.

It was time to impeach him four years ago. Even seven years ago, right after he stole the 2000 election.

"It's funny you aren't calling for impeachment of all the DEMOCRATS that voted for the war in the first place."

I DO!

"It's people like you that make me want to leave this country for good."

So long! You won't be missed.

"If you don't like it move to Europe where inflation and unemployment is rampant."

Europe's economy is doing better than ours these days. And for good reason - their governments are not run by corporations and tv preachers.

I keep going back to my history lessons in school. Maybe I'm wrong I did go to public school but didn't Roosevelt attack Germany (Japan was justifiable but not Germany) during WW2 and Kennedy attack Veitnam (still don't understand that one) and the first Gulf War. How are all these different than the current presidency's war?

Impeachment is important for all the obvious reasons, and also because it will show the world that America admits her mistakes, learns from them, and tries to correct them. Failure to impeach tells the world America is OK with what Bush and Cheney have done.

Impeachment is a tool granted the American people through the Constitution. No one ever had the right to take the tool away from us - no one, including Nancy Pelosi.

Kucinich is the one who speaks for most Americans. Kucinich is our best, last hope.

THE BEST THING BUSH & CHENEY COULD DO FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR THE WORLD WOULD BE TO IMMEDIATELY RESIGN FROM OFFICE AND VOLUNTARILY COMMIT INTO PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT. IF THEY DO THIS THEY MAY LIKELY BE SAVED FROM ARREST, TRIAL AND EXECUTION UNDER INTERNATIONAL WAR CRIMES LAWS. FOR THEY WOULD LIKELY BE PLACED IN CONFINEMENT FOR THE REST OF THEIR NATURAL LIVES ON AN INSANITY PLEA. . . . Since the Congress refuses to impeach Bush and Cheney because of their own guilt as accessories before and after the fact to the crimes committed, We need to seek involuntary commitment of Bush and Cheney as they both pose a real and demonstrated continuing threat to the world! . . . Sample forms for petitions for involuntary commitment of Bush and Cheney are linked to this site so that We the People can take action to seek a removal from office of Bush and Cheney on grounds of mental incapacity. With sufficient financial support to sustain legal proceedings in a court of competent jurisdiction, a class action petition will be filed seeking involuntary commitment of Bush and Cheney.
