Rove Under Investigation for Political Interference

The federal Office of Special Counsel is investigating White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The obscure investigation unit will look into whether political officials in the White House have interfered with presidential appointees to keep them attuned with Republican priorities, according to the LA Times' Tom Hamburger.

It will also examine White House involvement with the firing of at least one U.S. attorney and missing White House e-mails on the matter.

ABC News' Ann Compton reports that when asked this morning about the investigation, White House Deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino said: "The White House has responded appropriately to the Office of Special Counsel."

The Office Special Counsel is an independent arm of the federal government that investigates and prosecutes illegal activity within the U.S. government.  As part of its responsibilities, the OSC handles cases involving whistleblower protection, violation of workplace law such as abuse of funds or authority, and advises offices on proper separation of government and political activity."

This month, the White House acknowledged it cannot find four years' worth of emails from chief political strategist Karl Rove. The White House has also said that some emails missing from Rove's Republican Party account may relate to the firing of eight US prosecutors last year.

The Senate Judiciary Committee grilled Attorney General Alberto Gonzales last week, investigating whether the firings resulted from political pressure by the White House or the Justice Department.

thetre is no there "there". This is a partisan witch hunt. The committees would be better served starting to work on securing Medicare due to run out of funds in 2019.

Let us hope that Mr.Hamburger can ladle on the hot mustard and make Karl Rove the main course. By the way, I listened to a BBC reporter who has about 500 of the missing emails in case anybody cares...our MAINSCREAM media surely will not

WHEN is the American public going to realize what a bunch of liars and hoodlums are in this Bush administration? WHO is profiting from this war?
Bush and Cheney have blood dripping from their hands, as well as Karl Rove and the other criminals within the administration. Kudos to the FEW in the administration who seem to be bi-partisan, and much more truthful than Bush would prefer.
Bless the ones telling the truth!

"Whitewater,Travelgate, and by the way that blue dress!" The Clinton whitehouse was investigated for years by special council. Now REAL CRIMINALITY like WAR Profiteering, LYING about intelligence to go to war, fixing elections, and outing a CIA operative, to mention a few have flurished unquestioned in the G.W. Bush administration. The idea of spending the country broke on this "War on Terroism" so there would be no funds for "social programs" like medicare was the whole idea in the first place. Wake up America! Do you think Bush, Cheney, and Rove actually care about the average American?

Why is this guy always smiling? because he knows he has the best protection squad at his beck and call. Add to that the tons of cash his co-conspiritors have at hand or can dig out of the pockets of people that want to set government policy for their business. Besides he knows too much for the others to let him twist in the wind. So he can laugh and flip it to everybody 24/7.

Don't expect much from this investigation. Just have to wait for the next elections and hope that this thing doesn't happen again and it can with either party.
