ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: After saying that "earning money" is part of the "Jewish tradition," the editorial board of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel opines Wednesday that former Gov. Tommy Thompson's, R-Wis., "inexplicable" comment should "spell an end" to his long-shot bid for the White House.

While speaking recently to the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism in Washington, D.C., Thompson said, "I'm in the private sector, and for the first time in my life I'm earning money. You know, that's sort of part of the Jewish tradition, and I do not find anything wrong with that."

When asked about it Tuesday by a group of Politico reporters and editors, the former Wisconsin governor and Health and Human Services Secretary said fatigue and a persistent cold were to blame for his comments. According to The Politico's Jonathan Martin, he also grew testy and demanded of the reporter who queried him: "Have you ever made a mistake?"

Mr. Davis:

These remarks are symptomatic of
Sec. Tommy Thompson's 'attitudinal-political dysfunction '. What comes around - goes around . When the inflationary Federal Drug D Plan was being forced thru Congress, Thompson was on the House floor sitting with Rep.Tauzin and Tom Delay. NEVER in Congressional history, when a major act was voted, was a member of a presidential cabinet twisting arms with the enforces. Not so long after the D passage in which th American public is & will be defrauded of $310 Billion, Tauzin is PhARMA's chief Congressional rep. @$Ms/yr. & Tom Scully who wrote the bill earns a retainer of $2M/yr working for PhARMA's legal lobbyist firm.

The strain of Sec.Thompson's "fatigue & cold" only reveals his basic philosophy & personality - No mental room for political cover-ups.

Gee, Dr. Blum, it sounds like the CDC
should be called; this sounds like
an epidemic sweeping Washington, D.C., and may very well spread to
the Republicans at the Senate, and to
the Dept. of Justice. Is there hope
for a cure in 2008?
