Blame Game on Federal Relief After Tornado

ABC News' Karen Travers Reports: President Bush travels to Greensburg Kansas tomorrow to inspect the destruction and comfort families affected by last week's tornadoes but today started off like a re-run of that favorite Washington pastime – the Blame Game.

After saying this morning that Gov. Kathleen Sebelius D-Kans., had only asked for FM radios, White House press secretary Tony Snow backtracked in his briefing and said the state did in fact request and receive more from FEMA, including a mobile command center, an urban search and rescue task force, a mobile office building, 40 two-way radios and coordination on extra Black Hawk helicopters.

Snow also gave an itemized list of the equipment immediately available to recovery workers there:

"I already told you 83,000 National Guard units in the region, 99 bulldozers, 61 loaders, 246 dump trucks, 59 graders, 228 heavy expandable mobility tactical trucks, 2,243 2.5 and 5-ton trucks, 70 palletalized load systems," he said.

White House homeland security advisor Fran Townsend spoke to Gov. Sebelius Tuesday afternoon on two issues – concern about National Guard levels and Iraq deployments and available resources for the tornado recovery.

Snow said that it was Townsend’s understanding that the federal government met every request Gov. Sebelius made and had moved resources proactively into Kansas and the region in anticipation of more requests.

Snow said the governor told Townsend that "she had what she needs" and while she reiterated the issue of the National Guard deployments, she was pleased with FEMA’s response.

"When Fran again said, ‘Is there anything you need to respond effectively to this disaster,’ the Governor responded, ‘No. We could not have asked for a faster response.  (Federal Emergency Management Director) Dave Paulison was terrific yesterday.’" Snow said.

When President Bush makes his way to Kansas he will receive briefings from local and federal officials on the tornado damage.

You know instead of promoting a war against Iran, President Bush should take care of the American Citizens FIRST.

Bush isn't promoting a war against Iran, and, Iran has absolutely nothing to do with Kansas.

Ok, let's see, It's obvious that Obama has no clue as to how he may vote. He is too busy going after Bush to do his own job.
President Bush is getting tired. I can see it in his eyes, and can hear it in his voice, he's done, put a fork in him. I actually liked President Bush, I voted for him twice, and I think he had a great head of steam at the beginning of his first term, and to some extent his second. But, the insidious and relentless clawing by the petulant left has severely compromised his thinking. He now hesitates, and tries to assess the beating he will take in the media before he says anything. His speech is often muffled and barely discernable. He gives consessions to the left in order to be treated like a centrist. In reality the left hates him more than the plague. They will continue to tempt the President, but regardless of what he does they will continue to deride and undermine all that he does or tries to do. Now...he has successfully enraged the left and forsaken the right. He is in a lonely and unwinable state. And so the stage is set for an ambitious and arrogant dictator, who will promise everyone everything, and deliver little. The taxpayers will soon feel the lash of the socialist entitlement programs... but American slumbers under the warm covers of low interest rates and high rates of return. Sleep on my fair maden.
