Bush Defends Gonzales

ABC News' Karen Travers Reports: President George W. Bush issued a very strong defense of Alberto Gonzales Monday in Crawford, Texas, expressing his confidence in the embattled Attorney General and decrying the "political theater" in Washington, D.C.

"He has got my confidence. He has done nothing wrong," the President said at a press availability with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer . "There's been enormous amount of attention on him, that there has been no wrongdoing on his part. He has testified in front of Congress."

"And I, frankly, view what's taking place in Washington today as pure political theater.  And it is this kind of political theater that has caused the American people to lose confidence in how Washington operates."

"I stand by Al Gonzales, and I would hope that people would be more sober in how they address these important issues. And they ought to get the job done of passing legislation, as opposed to figuring how to be actors on the political theater stage."

President Bush was also asked if he was surprised by former President Jimmy Carter's criticisms over the weekend and he brushed it off as more of the same.

"I get criticized a lot from different quarters. And that's just part of what happens when you're president," Bush said. "I will continue to make decisions that I think are necessary to protect the American people from harm. I will continue to make decisions based upon certain principles, one of which is my strong belief in the universality of freedom."

"And so, look, I understand some people are -- you know, may not agree with the decisions I made. But what the American people need to know, I'm making them based upon what's best for this country."

Gonzales knows where all the Bush bodies are buried, plus he may be the only thing that stands between Duhhhbya and the Hague. He stays AG until the end of this administration. If not a Supreme Court Justice.

ya, like things are really better with decisions that brought:

dividing the country
ruining Americas image in the world
squandering the highest surplus ever and
creating the highest deficit
tripling the number of terrorists
politicizing the U.S. government
reducing civil rights of citizens
spying on Americans
on path to cripple the armed forces
costly, unnecessary war
creating a welfare state: Iraq
destroying domestic aid programas

Does this cover it all?, of course not.
The cost of these decisions will linger for years. But the trillions wasted is nothing compared to the loss of our most precious resource, our people. By the time this ends next year when this ADM. and its allies are voted out, we could see 4000 deaths and 50,000 wounded.

Conscience should tell us to get our troops home and get to fighting the real terrorists. With a fraction of the wasted money, our borders and ports would be more secure, our youth could get educated and the elderly and sick would not have to beg to get medical attention.

Former Deputy Attorney General James Comey's Senate testimony on May 15—that the entire leadership of the Justice Department was prepared to resign over their disagreement with the White House, particularly with Dick Cheney and his lawyer David Addington—around the NSA domestic surveillance program, raises the question once again: Is the NSA spying program much bigger than has ever been admitted?
Gonzo is a turd.

No, Mr President, it's not "political theater" that's "caused the American people to lose confidence in how Washington operates." What's cause that is...how Washington operates. Corruption and incompetence, traits which the Attorney General epitomizes, do not and never have inspired confidence.

Bush, and his other lackeys, are making the name "American" stink outside our borders. His BS methods are ruining every facet of life in America. Our country is far too crowded, yet he tolerates the wetback and asian invasion to the point of encouragement. He breaks numerous laws with impunity and actively works to destroy our very sovereignty. This has gotta stop while we yet have a nation to save.
