ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf Reports: It is becoming hard to keep track of all the Republicans in the Senate who have called for the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, but after Tuesday's stunning testimony by former Deputy AG James Comey, add Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., to the list.

Others, including Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Penn., have come just short of calling for a resignation.

"The American people deserve an Attorney General, the chief law enforcement officer of our country, whose honesty and capability are beyond question.  Attorney General Gonzales can no longer meet this standard," said a statement by Hagel Wednesday.

"He has failed this country.  He has lost the moral authority to lead.  Comey’s testimony yesterday brings to light the latest episode in a series of questionable actions by Attorney General Gonzales.  It is another part of a pattern of flawed decision making by the Attorney General."

"America is a nation of laws. In the interest of the American people, Alberto Gonzales should resign now," Hagel said.

I'll vote for Chuck Hagel. Go for it, we don't need people without integrity running the Justice system in the US. This country is not a third world country. Gang-zales should serve time in jail for what he knows and for what he had done and for lying under oath.

Gonzales still tells Congress he doesn't know who made the list of US Attorney's to be fired or why? He couldn't find out? Perhaps Congress should authorize "Enhanced interrogation techniques" be applied to the AG to get at the truth. After all, he claims that waterboarding, etc. aren't torture.

Where does the buck stop? Who is in charge of the Exec. Branch? Why rag on Gonzales? He is just a "yes" man. What other choice does he have? Could it be easy to allow himself to be humilliated and disgraced by his "good" friends in the White House. His shame is that he doesn't seem to have enough pride and fortitude in himself and lets these things happen to him. He would be a better man if he just resigned.

We all have friendships but letting yourself be humilliated by them is not what one should do to keep these.

Everyone below the Prez. stays or goes as HE feels like it; the consequences should fall on him but these people are very good at avoiding responsibilities. If the AG is still AG it's because the Prez. wants him there: he does divert attention from other important things.

Maybe Gonzalez will get his own ranch for all his troubles. For what he is being put through who can say that he doesn't deserve it?, and his party can surely swing it.

Oh I don't know fellas...I think they all are just doin' the best they can. After all, Rummy said it best, "you don't go to the Senate with the AG you wish you had, you go to the Senate with the AG that you do have".

On second thought, I agree with everyone that has said the words "jail", "impeach", and "torture". Really...when are the Dems going to grow a set and do something about these criminals?
