Yet Another Round in the Coulter/Edwards Feud

Share

June 28, 2007 9:59 PM

Get ready for the next round in the ongoing feud between Ann Coulter and the Edwards family.

On Thursday afternoon, the conservative commentator posted her latest column in which she proceeds to repeat her past accusation that John Edwards has exploited his son Wade's tragic death for political purposes.

Coulter reprints part of her controversial 2003 column in which she wrote, "If you want points for not using your son's death politically, don't you have to take down all those 'Ask me about my son's death in a horrific car accident' bumper stickers?"

She then responds to Elizabeth Edwards, who complained about the 2003 column and its insinuations to Coulter during her now-infamous phone call to MSNBC's "Hardball" on Tuesday.

"Manifestly, I was not making fun of their son's death; I was making fun of John Edwards' incredibly creepy habit of invoking his son's tragic death to advance his political career -- a practice so repellant, it even made John Kerry queasy."

Coulter cites a passage from Kerry campaign consultant Bob Shrum’s book, "No Excuses" to back up this assertion.

In the book, Shrum says Kerry told him that Edwards once recounted how after Wade's death, he had climbed onto the slab at the funeral home and promised to make life better for people, ending his story by assuring Kerry that he had never told that story to anyone else.

Shrum writes that Kerry told him Edwards repeated the exact same story for him two years later, "with the same preface, that he had never shared that memory with anyone else. Kerry said he found it chilling, and he decided he couldn't pick Edwards unless he met with him again."

Coulter concludes by repeating her previous claim that the Edwards campaign is exploiting Coulter's comments to raise funds from supporters.

"I'm a little tired of losers trying to raise campaign cash or TV ratings off of my coattails, particularly when they use their affliction or bereavement schedules to try to silence the opposition. From now on, I'm attacking only serious presidential candidates, like Dennis Kucinich."

A spokesman for the Edwards campaign did not return calls. A spokesman for MSNBC did not return calls.

Ms. Coulter is again showing that she does not know how to play nice. She should just quit while she is behind.

hahaha. Play nice? Since when has either side followed that rule? Get a grip on reality.

does anyone even carry her column any more? No Republicans I know of take her even remotely seriously, more like an embarassing cousin who makes inappropriate jokes in front of the guests.

"Play nice?" Do you have any concept of who Ann Coulter is, and how she makes her living? Why would she want to "play nice" and put herself out of a job?

Go, Ann!

Ann Coulter is a psychopath. They kick other people off the air for sick comments. They ought to kick her off the air and put her in an institution...or a zoo.

Ann Coulter is a mean, hateful, witch and she lies like Hell when she says she is a Christain. She wouldn't know Christianity if it jumped up and bit her head off.

I think Ann Coulter is a vile disgusting human being. That said, I agree that if John Edwards wants to take the moral high ground then he should not be using her comments to raise money. It only lowers him to her level.

Ann Colterguiest is a horribe human as are all those that think like her. It is people like her that are harming America and making neighbors hate each other. She is a hateful person who should just go away. I bet she wouldn't think twice about strapping a dog to the roof of her car either.

Ann Coulter says it like it is and isn't afraid to say it. You liberals who want to support Edwards, who wants to socialize this country like the communists are just angry that she exposed "Mr. 40 minute hair obsessor" for what he truly is. He's a PI lawyer who made it rich on going after a Doctor who delivers babies. He made $50 million on it and is very into his own money. Ask him when he socializes medicine if he will use the same medical system for his own family's health care. The answer is no way, he'll use the special government's plan. You liberals are living in la la land and have to get a reality check. Don't let your hatred for your president overshaddow what liberals are trying to do. Tax the rich (who work hard for their money), and give everything to the poor. That will only keep the poor wanting free entitlements and never feeling they have to get educated and get jobs and get married and then plan for families they can afford, like the rest of us.

Coulter is a complete nut and a political nightmare for the Republican party. Is it any real coincidence that the more publicty she gets the over the years the worse the Republicans do in the elections. She is an extremist nut who reasonable middle of the road people (who actually win the elections for the given candidates) don't want to associate with.

I am sure the Democrats want to have Coulter's mouth help them win the White House in 2008, as well as the Hosue and Senate. She is a real boost to liberal candidates.

Coulter is and always will be a pathetic excuse for a human being.

Coulter says it like it is??? Sounds like Mccarthyism to me...are you old enough to remember???. Talking about his sons death....just like MADD....do you object to them also???? What is the difference if he is running for president or local dog catcher, he still lost his son...Over 3K mothers talk about their sons being killed by DUI, no objection there???...as for his stand on "your Presidents" war...I think the reason we are there is from the idiots own mouth..."he tried to kill my daddy...the daddy who kept his sorry butt out of Vietnam...I went but he got to stay...I am not poor but worked for what I have now...can you or your "President" or "Ann (maybe Ralph)
Coulter say the same!!! Sounds like the silver spoon is stuck in not your mouth, but the other end (BUTT). This country is going down the tubes (toilet, or maybe bidet in your case) and people like you are helping. Maybe you should pick up the shovel and start shoveling the manure in another direction. Hope you have a nice day and survive to see the error of your ways. As you next generation say "GOD BLESS" (without really meaning it)

If the left is going to scream bloody murder and castigate Ann Coulter (who I personally do not like as she is too abrasive), will they apply the same standards to that screeching, self aggrandizing, maniacal moron Mike Malloy?

Ann Coulter is a misguided physcopath who thinks she is being clever. She thrives off of the negatives. It's difficult to believe that she has a law degree. I think she probably knows law but her personality is out of character with it. She's almost 50 and has never been married. Yet she claims to have all kinds of family values. Go figure.

It is quite unlikely that anyone gets the point of all this. Coulter gains money and support by saying what she says and Edwards is hoping to capitolize on the contraversy and gain money support for Johnnyboy. At least Coulter has the good grace not to run for office. Oh, wait-- Elizabeth isnn't running for office either,, is she??

Ann is the sort who enters a room, gets everybody screaming at each other, and then professes to be shocked and offended by the melee when she gets hurt by a projectile. She can dish it but can't take it, and she loves being the center of the storm. Do her psyche a favor. Ignore her! It'll drive her crazy.

Edwards (Both of them) should stick to talking to illiterate juries and slip and fall courts. Ann Coulter is about 100 IQ points out of his league.
