Ad Hits Bush for Claim of "Progress" in Iraq
July 13, 2007 2:39 PM
ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: One day after President Bush claimed that "satisfactory progress" is being made on eight of 18 benchmarks in Iraq, a liberal group is launching a television ad which portrays the president's latest claim of progress as empty rhetoric.
Watch the ad HERE.
The ad begins with clips of President Bush claiming "progress" in Iraq in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007. The ad then flashes a year-by-year series of statistics on the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq and the amount of money spent.
The ad, which begins airing Friday evening in Louisville and Lexington, Ky., ends with text asking: "Sen. McConnell: Is this your idea of progress in Iraq?"
In the Senate, where McConnell serves as Republican leader, Democrats have failed to win enough GOP votes to force a change in policy.
"For years now, Bush has been claiming that things are getting better when in fact they’re getting worse," said Tara McGuinness, the deputy campaign director of "Americans Against Escalation in Iraq."

Are you sure McGuinness isn't the deputy director of "Americans / Democrats Against Winning in Iraq"?
