Biden Calls Bush 'Brain Dead'
July 06, 2007 8:02 AM
During a Fourth of July campaign stop in Iowa, Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden, known for suffering from acute foot-in-mouth disease on more than one occasion, had some strong words for the president and some GOP rivals in the 2008 candidate pool.
As reported by the New York Times, Biden said of President Bush, "“This guy is brain dead. I know I’ll be quoted, I’ll be killed for that.”
“This is a guy who is on the balls of his heels, here’s a guy who is lower off in the polls than any president in modern history and he goes ahead and he does something that just flies in the face of the sensibilities of the American people.”
Next, Biden took New York City Mayor and Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani's terror-stance to task.
“I can hardly wait to debate Rudy Giuliani if he is their nominee,” he said. “Because I will eat his lunch. The next time I hear a Republican talk about us being tough on terror – give me a break!”
Last but not least, Biden charged after another Republican candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
"I found Romney’s statements yesterday profound – crazy — when he talked about going to war with Iran,” he said. “Why are we talking about going to war with Iran?”

haha... at least someone isn't suffering from "political correctness". and a democrat no less! makes republicans look like a bunch of wimps.

He could be brain dead but he knows how to profit from the war. MBA from Harvard....duh.

Go Joe! Its nice to see a politician actually speak their mind for a change. He may have been harsh which dosen't bring about real debate but at least he was honest. Maybe I will take a second look at Joe this year.

Biden....what a character. He can definitely tell it like it is.

So a senator calls a sitting Commander in Chief during a time of war "brain dead" and you think he's "speaking his mind"? Obviously he's been a democrat insider too long and his little "mind" has been twisted. George W Bush is an excellent President following the mandate of the American voters who put him there for EIGHT YEARS. It's called "leadership", the opposite of the hat racks "leading" the houses with the party of no ideas, offering to help the enemy and gridlock our President. GWB confuses them because HE places integrity above politics and the whims of opinions modeled by the democrat media. Neither you nor the "presidential hopeful senator" can remember why we went to war in Iraq a unified nation, that Clinton wanted to go but was too cowardly, the nuclear weapons programs UN weapon's inspectors did find before they were first restricted then thrown out of Iraq (several times), that North Korea would have shared the missile and nuclear weapons technology with Saddam by now (see Iran and Syria)? These are issues biden doesn't worry about because national defense is now "someone else's problem". He doesn't have to wonder what Saddam would do when North Korea handed them a nuclear ballistic program. Interesting that when the United States military or law enforcement enjoy their well earned victories, the democrat party views them as a threat.....the cost of aligning their agenda with the enemy. ...but like edwards, biden believes the war on terror is a political gimmick on a bumper sticker even as terrorists planning to blow up fuel pipelines at Kennedy car bombs in UK are arrested. ....that's what a democrat president has to offer.....and when national defense is stripped to fund welfare programs and something does get through, go boom and arms/legs are flying around, you'll be the first ones cowering in your basements in the fetal position with 5 gallons of drinking water wondering when someone will come save you..... VOTE DEMOCRAT! ...I'll be watching and laughing the whole time.

Well done. A person in power that says things they way they see them. I also agree with the man. Bush is clearly out of touch not just with the hight of public feeling but with the false wars that he has started. How this man is still in power is amazing. If this was any other country other than America, he would be long gone by now because of public protesting. I guess American public procrastination is clearly evident again!

Joe Biden's the perfect spokesman for the Democratic Party: high visibility, great insight/verbal abilities, can speak the unvarnished truth because his candidacy is going nowhere, yet has a safe Senate seat for as long as he wants it. To connect with the American people and accentuate the fact that the Democrats really do "get it", at least one of their candidates needs to speak in the same manner that regular people are, both substantively and stylistically

Popular vote? Who cares? Both Al gore and kerry had the privilege of being crushed by George W. Bush! The Bush family is the greatest force in American politics in history! Let me educate you: Presidents are not elected by popular vote, they are elected by the electoral college (by the way, Gore did not win the popular vote in his own state in 2000!) But if he did win as you wished, he would have been the least educated president in modern history with his 4 year degree in "Government" finishing in the bottom fifth of his class. Your President won the popular election in 2004 by well over a million votes so I'm sure you were relieved! We love you George Bush! Keep on doing what we elected you to do!! USA! USA! USA!

Joe biden knows about as much about the truth as any democrat. Lucky for him, the standards were set by William Jefferson, another sitting member of the house. Try to forget that biden VOTED FOR WAR WITH IRAQ and VOTED TO CONTINUE TO FUND THE WAR. Doesn't that bother you hippies? Wow, if I was supporting someone like that, I sure would try to forget those facts. Didn't he betray you and the failed "moveon org" that helped keep President Bush in the Whitehouse for a second term? It must be tough....ouch.

I cannot beleive the hate filled comments from both sides on this discussion. No wonder politicians don't care about the voters all they have to do is push hot button issues, make some nonsense statements, and away we go. Blind support of anybody or party is just unamerican. I wish the voters of this country would learn to form there own informed opinions and not just those of pundints and whack jobs. Unfortunately most people smart enough to do this are so disgusted by the rest they just sitback and watch it happen. Grow up America!

Joe Biden tell it like it is... at last a Democrat, other than Hillary. He is correct on all counts.
Posted by: Dave | Jul 6, 2007 11:14:58 AM
What do you mean who cares about popular vote? More Americans wanted Gore than Bush. Period. Anyway, you're only one person and most Americans now believe he is the Worst President Ever, and he will go down in history as that. I'm curious, cheese, will you support any military actions by a Dem presidnet the same as you do Bush? When Clinton put troops in the Middle East, did you chant USA! USA! USA! USA! back then as well? Or do you only support America when a republican is in office?
Posted by: Cat | Jul 6, 2007 11:25:01 AM
We must give the Bush administration credit for one really important thing. Bush, Cheney, Rummy, and Rove opened up the opportunity for us sane people to find out how many nuts are actually out there that agree with the Bush administrtion. Boy, do we have our work cut out for us! There are more crazies on the outside then locked up! Anyone that thinks the Bush administrtion has done a good job in any sector has to be as goofy as Georgie is.

Two former Democrat presidents had some of the lowest numbers in the polls too:
Truman, who now is considered to be one of one of the greatest in USA history - but the 50's Democrats had no relation to the today democrats.
jimmy carter was the other one - what a Disaster!
Why are you not honest joe and give up your senatorship while you are campaining for a presidential position?
... and then, just go away!
PS (non)capitalization was intended.

I thought that the republican party was the one of protection of civil liberties. This administration has dismantled more of our civil liberties than any in history and still the parry apologizers are in lock step with this tyrant. Be proud republicans, you did get your man boy in for eight years but thank god this country has come to its senses (finally). I don't know if any one in the current field is the answer, but I think a sock puppet could lead this country better than Bush and his cabal of war profiteers.

As I read most of these posts, I am more convinced than ever that there is no hope for our democracy. If it's not the rabid rantings of the crazy Bushies, it's the "reasoned" deliberations (or so they think) of Democrats trying to convince me which one of their plastic, self-serving candidates is the person I should support.
JWF got it right--"Grow up America! Quit acting like moronic sports fans and start acting like responsible, informed citizens who value country over party. What the hell is wrong with you people??

I hope he is as understanding if he is elected that I will speak so highly of him. This is just another reason why I would not vote for this putz, he doesn't have to respect the man, but he must as a citizen respect the office.

Biden is completely rude and provocative. Let's make him President shall we?

Cat: Clinton failed to win the popular vote in 1992 (only 43% voted for him) and 1996 (49.2%) while GW Bush did win the popular vote as an incombent. I don't care because popular vote is only a footnote referenced by cry babies and of no real value. GW Bush will be judged an excellent President by history because, those who look back on this period of history will see the issues in total, stripped of massive democrat media issue poisoning. They will see all that you don't know: the Clinton impotence that set the stage; the events that lead to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq; the arrests of domestic terrorists; the steady economy and near monthly stock market records; the steady, low interested rates (Carter his mortgage rates of 18%); drug assistance program for poor seniors; "No Child Left Behind" education demanding results; the progress in nation building as Afghanistan and Iraq see their first contemporary elections. While these and other outstanding accomplishments are minimized the press you read, they will be celebrated by historians. Clinton in the middle east? Are you serious? What troops in the middle east? Are you referring to the wittle 4 day bombing campaign in Iraq, "Desert Fox" in 1998 followed by signing a law requiring "regime change" there? Apparently, he planned to fire Saddam Hussein!! LMAO! Did you see "Black Hawk Down" yet? Check it out. To answer your question, it's not about troop deployments at all. It's about the skill at which a President leads our national defense/security policy. Party is irrelevant other then the fact that those who generally gravitate to the democrat side tend to be clueless about such things....doesn't mean they always will but look at the current candidates.... I rest my case.

Good job "Dave": I've been mislead but your response has all the substance of the democrat party itself (none). Read it again - slower - maybe you'll learn something this time. Right on Kottaras: he's not in some shallow popularity contest orchestrated by the democrat media. In fact, he must have great contempt for those clowns. Thank you President Bush, the American People are with you!
Posted by: cheesetopping69 | Jul 6, 2007 9:30:49 PM
George Bush IS an IDIOT. It's plain to see, the man is INCOMPETENT! Everything he touches turns to dust. And thanks to his management of National Security we are worse of than we ever have been. From Enron to Exxon he has let the Energy companies rape the American people as they game the markets, then he bankrupts the treasury with his poor economic leadership, then to top it off he engages our military in an un-necessary and un-winnable war.
And some fools like cheese pizza are so stupid to call this progress! I think you deserve to go hunting with my old friend Dick Cheney.

I applaud Senator Biden for stating in public what the majority of American's already know. The few Americans like cheese for brains that remain loyal to the village idiot must live in their own world. A world void of reality. Take pity on them.

What the h@ll is this loudmouth pea-brain babbling about now? Joe Biden is an embarrassment to even the most obnoxious and extreme liberal Democrats. Biden is like the foul-mouthed, drunk uncle who shows up at the Democrat family picnic, flirts with someone else's fiancé, and vomits all over himself before passing out. He's a disgrace, even to his closest friends. What a skunk! What group of morons elected this pathetic loser to the Senate anyway???

What I can't believe is that these Bushbots still spew this "He is a good Leader" garbage!! We are coming up on 4,000 dead men and women in a war that was forced upon us by outright lies and misinformation by this guys people. They even sent Colin Powell, the only true patriot in the bunch to do their dirty work. Now we are five years later and we are bogged down in this fiasco. Only someone that is "Brain Dead", or worse, uncaring, could profess to stay the course or what ever their current catchphrase is...
... History will not look kindly on the man who stole the Presidency and then acted so carelessly on behalf of OUR COUNTRY, to the point that now we are a laughing stock in the Worlds eyes...

G.W.Bush: "I'm not very analytical. You know, I don't think a lot about why I do things." This quote is from June 1, 2003, after having invaded Iraq.
Well, maybe this doesn't indicate "brain death", but it certainly leads me to believe that we have a President that doesn't study the issues, doesn't weigh the pros and cons, doesn't properly plan and doesn't contemplate the consequences of his actions. I ask you, is such a man worthy of the office of the President of the United States ?
Is a man that calls the Constitution "just a godd*amned piece of paper" worthy of the Presidency ? Notice how he uses this "piece of paper" when it is to his advantage and ignores or abuses it when it gets in his way.
Bush's fanatic followers love to call the media and the polls liberal, when they print, air, or show results that do not support their idol. That's fine, but what about the right-wing FOX News ? The latest FOX News Poll shows Bush's job approval rating to be 31%. That's less than one in three American's who support him. So forgive me for laughing when anyone says "The American People are with you!"
We should all put country before party. Whether the party in control is Republican or Democrat, we should never have blind faith in bad leadership.

Cheesetopping sounds like a paid RNC threadbuster. They ought to save their money for the defense fund to keep Cheney (first) then Bush out of jail as the impeachment hearings progress. Do you think that ALL of the Dems in Congress are running for President? I think there are some very committed legal mind QUIETLY at work setting up the Nixonesque departures that I just described. Bet on it.

Tumbleweedin, Wikipedia's brief lowdown on the Bilderberg group doesn't shake me up horribly. It sounds like it was started in the early 50's and made up of a bunch of rich, influential progressive intellectual types and originally convened to address anti-American in western Europe, and it's invitation only membership is restricted to people from those continents. Sounds like an international think tank to me, certainly far less ominous than Cheney's top secret energy meetings given that they have no real power or authority. I don't feel too threatened by the notion of people exchanging ideas, even if I don't agree with them. Maybe I'm missing something here. Is your fear that the Bilderberg group is yet another staging ground for the dreaded UN/One World Government boogey man?

It's too bad when someone stands up and tells the truth he gets blasted. Basically, "the emporer has no clothes." It's about time we got it out into the open and decide what we must do about it. 3,500 of my bothers & sisters have died in a war they never had to fight along with 26,000 wounded--the equivalent of nearly 3 full Army divisions. And the statistic that is really kept a secret? Some 2,000 American children have lost a parent in this folly. Respectfully, a retired Army field grade officer.

Interesting that while a few of you trash your President (as biden did) and my own humble commentary, not ONE of you has stated a single counter-point. Typical democrat nonsense - all emotion, hatred, name calling but zero substance.....this is the basis you sad apples want to run the United States government when you grow up some day? Oh, the laughter! My earlier postings on this thread pointed to why your PRESIDENT, ELECTED BY US, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FOR 8 YEARS, has our support and gratitude. Those of you who retired from the armed forces and now trashing your Commander in Chief during a time of war are the most disappointing - but that is your right - pathetic opinions and all. By the way, GHW Bush did not go on to Iraq because the coalition forces included Arabs - where were you, in the kitchen serving chow? Work for President Bush!? Paid? You have got to be kidding! I'm just one of the MAJORITY of AMERICAN VOTERS who ELECTED George W Bush PRESIDENT - nice to meet cha. I'm sure that President Bush's staff is not only too busy, but completely disinterested in this drivel. Such banter if far below them but I don't mind getting in the mud with you folks and shedding a little reality puckered up world.

I'm through arguing about how stupid and brain dead Bush is. I accepted that fact long ago. I've already submitted my petition to have him impeached. We need to quit bickering about all of his idiotic decisions and just collectively throw him and Cheney out of office. "Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya."

cheese:
I find all of what you have written to be utterly incredible. You are proud to be among the majority of American voters who elected Bush apparently, yet also don't care about the popular vote because it's a side note in history?! Little bit hypocritical there. You made a point of stressing (correctly) earlier that the people don't elect the President, the Electoral College does, so why are you so proud of being in the majority (well, "majority", but we won't get into that again) of the population that elected Bush? If you want to attempt to lecture other people, at least make your mind up about what your own position is and don't keep churning out pointless drivel.
And as for you thinking the American people are with Bush... were you asleep when the American people voted in the mid-terms? No? Oh, sorry, I thought you might have at least tried to know what you were talking about...

This Joe Biden just can't keep his mouth shut, can he? With his last sensational comment, Biden pointed out how "clean-cut and well-spoken" Senator Obama is - for a black guy. Message to Joe Biden: keep running your mouth, you're doing a great job of representing the Democrats!

Posted by: PaulNunes | Jul 8, 2007 1:00:54 PM
Making a point is not the same as statistical complaining so what I wrote was appropriate in the context of the lecture. Approval ratings as reported by the democrat media have become a tool used by democrat tools. When high, the are suppressed and when low they are touted in an effort to prevent your President from winning the next election? Apparently notice that his terms are limited has not filtered down to the democrat "elite" (gag). I know the AMERICAN PEOPLE are proud of the man they elected and I agree that the mid-terms were sending a message to Republicans house members. The message is that Republicans were not showing the courage and leadership they should have, including crushing the minority obstructionism used by the losing party. Lack of fortitude and failure to move the Republican agenda forward got them what they deserved and I hope the party got the message. Now the American People can also get a taste of what a spoiled, pathetic democrat party of no ideas "leadership" would look like before the '08 election. And while President Bush's agenda is not prefect, his heart is in the right place and we respect his dignity, recognizing and disregarding the poisoned democrat media agenda and their phony democrat fluff pieces and phony poles.
Posted by: cheesetopping69 | Jul 8, 2007 3:25:28 PM
cheese, you still don't seem to be quite getting the point...
If you use two fundamentally opposing arguments in the course of one tirade, there's no way you're going to convince me it's "appropriate", as either you're just arguing for the sake of it or you don't actually know what your opinion is. And where did approval ratings come into it?? I thought we were talking about you and voting. Approval ratings are meaningless because the questions are so specifically crafted, so we can ignore them. Interesting that you still appear to think that you are speaking for the American people as a whole as well... I think the responses to this blog alone show that the "American people" don't all agree with you. Mind you, as you seem to be suggesting that the party with the most Congressmen should be able to do what it wants whilst crushing the minority, thus doing away with the whole concept of a two (or more) party system and opposition, maybe you just don't want to listen...
Posted by: Paul | Jul 8, 2007 3:42:57 PM
The problem we have in weeding out candidates like George Bush ( those that don't have any intellectual curiosity) is that they depend on others to make the case for them. The others(news media)don't give us the true person. They put a buzz on them that distorts who they really are. I mean, does anyone on this blog believe that George Bush would turn out to be this bad? I doubt it yet the evidence was all there. The news media just covered it up. They want to be fair you know or so they say.

Just look at the condition of not only the world that this administration has created, but also our nation that is hanging by a thread with its freedoms and jobs etc. This man has ruined millions of lives on a lie and will give an account on that great day. Why don't we as a free people ( at least for the moment ) do something about all this horror and lies and corruption and put an honest man in the White House? The ONLY one who has held true to his or her oath of office in upholding the Constitution?
Vote for Ron Paul in 2008 and maybe we can eventually restore all that has been taken thus far.
Posted by: Dan | Jul 8, 2007 5:30:10 PM
You are overly impressed by your minor point, which is why I dismissed it. ...but we will digress, since it means so much to you: When discussing the election process specifically, popular vote is a minor footnote as I wrote. When referring to broad AMERICAN PUBLIC VOTER SUPPORT for the candidate and the ISSUES HE STANDS FOR (yes, independent from the election), then a reference to his huge, kerry crushing victory is a appropriate. You don't have to like it or agree but that's the way it is. NEXT: Hanging by a what? Thread? You mean the booming economy, monthly stock market records, huge improvements to education (embarrassing all lame democrat attempts of the past), drug benefit for impoverished seniors (who don't deserve it), record calm hurricane season (not one made it to shore in 2006), creation and refinement of the office of Homeland Security, massive investment in boarder security, expanded funding of alternate fuels and energy, liberating of Iraq and Afghanistan along with nation building/elections and a real defense and security policies resulting in terrorist arrests around the world. Clinton's legacy: Excellent environment for terrorist training in Florida and got some action from a fat, 20 year old intern. Good job democrats.

NOTHING of the SORT, because Bush was 100% ALERT when he sprang into action re: the Presidential pardon for Lucky 'Duck' Libby's prison commute. Guess it depends on the prevailing circumstances at hand!

This one is for Leila:
Did Hillary Clinton answer any question about her brothers' and her own involvement in the pardons?
The stench of the Marc Rich pardon still stinks - how is your nose doing Leila? - and it has never been adequately explained.
Could you?

Its true we do not have much to choose from as far as the presidential candiacy is concerned, but anyone could do a better job than Bush has done. All I want to hear from the candidate is"immediate withdrwl",and if they throw in a "impeach Bush"I will campaign for them.

What War is Bush leading? War on Drugs? No War on Iraq? NO He started and will not finish it. Remember his slogan "Stay the Course" Rumsie remembers, yes, Wolfie remembers yes and Gonzales remembers? NO he doesn't remember. Bush will go down Jan 2008 and the word is out it will cost the American Taxpayer more that 24 million a year for security. He will at the Highest from Nations aboard, thus Security for the Sock Puppet..just keep on Spending. Funny they lost 9 Billion in Cash in Iraq and Bozo didn't blink an eye. He has fooled 30% (GOP) of the American people. Every nation outside USA hates us, ok so I forgot Poland and Albania. GOP, just stay the course. I like it

Has anyone read Lee Iacocca's new book, "Where Have All the Leaders Gone?"
His ability to translate adeptness in running a business to the success of being a political leader is worth the read. His "Nine C's" of leadership (be Curious, be Creative, be able to Communicate, possess Character, (i.e., know the difference between right and wrong and have the guts to do the right thing), be Courageous, have Conviction (fire in the belly to accomplish something), possess Charisma (the abiity to inspire), be Competent, and have Common sense. The current administration is lacking in every category. He notes that we are immersed in a bloody war with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving. We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the country. We're losing the manufacturing edge to Asia while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs. Gas prices are skyrocketing, and nobody in power has a coherent energy policy. Our schools are in trouble. Our borders are like sieves. The middle class is being squeezed every which way. A gang of clueless bozos are steering our ship of state right over a cliff. We've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. He also notes that one of the most important lessons he learned in business was that if you are getting a single point of view from your team--usually your point of view--you've got trouble. Am I also the only person on the planet who finds a problem with having the person whose finger is on the button, not being able to correctly pronounce the word "nuclear?" And what is that silly little limp-handed gesture that he calls a wave? Physiology often reflects one's psychology.

SO WHAT, if Biden voted for war with Iraq, alot of people did until Bush's 4-5 different reasons all fell through the floor and public knowledge of his adminstrations involvment in allowing 911 to happen. At least he is speaking the truth now, Bush is brain dead and anyone that still supports this administration is as well.

the saddest thing about brain dead bushie is that there are still americans who still believe his obvious lies about everything. it was evident from the very first time he opened his mouth that he was uneducated and "brain dead". I remember thinking the very first time I heard him speak -- oh my god what is going to happen to us if he gets elected.

Hey, Senator Joe's comment makes me proud to be a Delawarean! Bush IS braindead and that is why Cheyney runs the show and has been from the beginning. Bush and Cheyney represent the worst of the United States. It's about time more have the guts to say it -- Democrat and/or Republican. This is a failed Presidency. Not only are the American people anxiously awaiting the departure of the Bush/Cheyney regime, but the whole world is. There will be a world-wide celebration on Inauguation Day 2009 when this braindead Bush leaves Washington, D.C. Let Texas have him, and as for me, GO JOE! Tell it like it is!!

It's so nice to hear SOMEONE speak truthfully about Bush, Guillani, and the like. They have made American citizens suffer unbelievably with their arrogant, thoughtless and careless stances that ignore the desires of the people of the nation.

Joe Biden has it right. al Qaeda was not not in Iraq until George W. Bush decided to bulldoze the country. Iran was a long-standing enemy of Iraq until George W. Bush chose to let the Shi'ites run the country. The Shia have turned out to be every bit as bloodthirsty as the Ba'athists. Oh, and as far as the wo rld being safer without Saddam, ask the people of London, Madrid, Bali, Amman, Baghdad, Islamabad and Lebanon. Ask the CIA which has concluded that al Qaeda is now stronger and has a much larger pol of recruits to draw from. Ask the people of Europe who now see the United States as the main problem on the planet. Yeah, Bush has courage. The courage that he and the rest of the Neo-Cons have to send someone else's kids off to die in war while their offspring sit safely at home.

Biden says, "This is a guy who is on the balls of his heels..." What a dork! There's no such thing. He should have said the backs of his heels. If you're on the balls of your feet, you are quite stable.

So, this was the only time Joe Slow was right!
He, Joe Slow himself stands on the the backs of his heels...

This was posted by Patrick Ruffini…
If the President feels bad about the nation's opinion of him — a meager 25% of those surveyed in a June Gallup poll approve of Bush's performance — all he needs to do is pick up that same poll and keep reading…
According to Gallup, just 14% of people express confidence inthe current Congress (Democrat majorities both houses). That's the lowest measure in the 34 years Gallup has been tracking government institutions.

Biden cracks me up. Being a democrat, I agree with him about a great many things. I certainly share his views on the current administration at any rate. I even think he’d make a great president in some ways. But in the ways he wouldn’t be such a hot president I have to say he disqualifies himself. He’s got all the tact of a pitbull with Tourette Syndrome.
