Bush boasts of new job numbers, threatens vetoes
July 07, 2007 11:00 AM
ABC News' Jon D. Garcia reports: In his radio address this morning President Bush touted a low unemployment rate and an increase in jobs for the 46th consecutive month. Bush attributed the numbers to his economic policy of keeping taxes and government spending to a minimum.
"Our Nation's strong economy is no accident," Bush said. "It is the result of the hard work of the American people and pro-growth policies in Washington."
The President also accused Democrats in Congress of trying to "bring back the failed tax-and-spend policies of the past" by proposing a budget increase of $205 billion over the next five years. Democrats say the money would be used to replenish programs that lost significant funding while Republicans controlled both the House and the Senate.
"No nation has ever taxed and spent its way to prosperity," Bush said. "And I have made it clear that I will veto any attempt to take America down this road."
Bush also sharply criticized Democrats for failing to pass a number of individual spending bills before the August recess. But in last week's Democratic radio address, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid blamed Republicans’ partisan politics for the delay.
The Department of Labor announced Friday the creation of 132,000 jobs in June, enough to keep unemployment steady at 4.5%.

Please ignore "President George Where's the Fence Bush.
He continues to spiral to the bottom of the barrel. He just passed Carter downward. He will join Nixon and Johnson as the worse of the worse.
And, he is not a Republican and should be expelled from the Republican Party.
