Documents Show 'Duke' Cunningham is Talking to FBI Agents about Corruption Cases
July 19, 2007 5:57 PM
USA TODAY's 'On Deadline' Blog reports: Randy "Duke" Cunningham, the former GOP congressman who accepted more than $2 million in bribes, is said to be squealing to the feds from his prison cell in Tucson.
Copley News Service, citing an 11-page summary of the interviews prepared by the FBI, reports that "Cunningham was very much the initiator of his corrupt actions, demanding bribes, accepting envelopes with cash and displaying an insatiable appetite for more money, more cars, more drink, more fine food and more expensive goods."
Cunningham describes accepting bribes in the form of prostitutes, concert tickets and even a computer for his daughter. In return, he has admitted using congressional "earmarks" to funnel federal money back to his benefactors.
The FBI report, known as an FD-302, says Cunningham didn't directly implicate any other politicians: "When asked if he was aware of any wrongdoing by other members of Congress, Cunningham said that [ADCS President Brent] Wilkes had hosted fund raisers for Tom Delay [sic] and Jerry Lewis. Cunningham also stated that he had observed [MZM President Mitchell] Wade and Katherine Harris having meals together."
Cunningham was sentenced to a little more than eight years in prison. Wade pleaded guilty but has yet to be sentenced in the case.
Wilkes, one of defense contractors accused of providing the bribes, is fighting the charges in federal court. The paper says his lawyer didn't respond to a request for comment.

I hope he keeps blabbing about the bushies, and that the truth comes out about all the criminal actions taken by karl rove and the other rabid republican criminals.

Just remember "Power corrupts", and I'd rather it not be some leftist Dem in power doing the corruption, they tend to do more in destroying the USA than a corrupt Republican, IMHO.

Fascinating theory you've got there, Loren. Care explaining to the rest of us -- those of us not on meds -- How a corrupt Republican is somehow less malodorous than a Democrat. Which deodorant, or rationale, is used to cover the stench?

Looks like more Republicans are in for a bit of jail time.
Unless, of course, Bush fires more prosecutors, or pardons them, or eliminates their sentences. Too bad we don't have a president from a party that believes in the rule of law. It is tough when we have an organized crime party in control of the white house.
