ABC News' Tahman Bradley Reports: In responding to a YouTubers' question designed to lighten up the mood of the Democratic presidential debate Monday in South Carolina, former Sen. John Edwards D-N.C., made an off-beat joke that could be viewed as a tasteless jab at the only woman in the '08 race.

When turning to Sen. Hillary Clinton D-N.Y., to explain one thing he liked and disliked about the former first lady, Edwards said he admired what Clinton has done for America and what her husband Bill Clinton did a president of the United States, but, added Edwards, "I'm not sure about that coat," referring to Clinton's pink suit jacket. Edwards' smile suggested he was joking. Clinton remained silent.

Barack Obama diplomatically stepped in telling Clinton he admired the coat. "I actually like Hillary's jacket. I don't know what's wrong with it."

The Edwards campaign told ABC News Wednesday that Edward's comments was a joke about trivial negative attacks.

It seems like we are destined to get Hillary Clinton as the democratic party nominee. I have never seen nor heard so much fuss over one public person. She can do no wrong. Talk about media bias. Too bad; They also gave us George Bush.

Edwards was making a joke and actually answered the question.

The cynical Mainstream media doesn't realize Edwards always answers questions.

Hillary and Obama did not find anything wrong with the person to their left and thus did not answer the question.

This is why America picks the worst people to be President. We are far too concerned about analyzing every utterance a candidate makes and dwell on idiotic cr*p like what color jacket someone is wearing. Let's start focuing on the issues for once.

riiight.... in a cave... you know, it's nice to have Ron Paul around to provide an extra voice, but do you really think you're so enlightened because you're one of the only people who doesn't believe his policies to, in general, be completely insane in the modern geopolitical world?

Anyway, who cares about the jacket comment? It was a ridiculously stupid question. What is this, first grade?

Will Proud,

Not sure where Ron Paul came into this, as people here so far were discussing how they want to hear the candidates on the issues, not the fashion police.

People are crying and dying in the streets and the man who just came from a poverty tour, had nothing more meaningful or insightful to say about Hillary on the issues, then to comment on her jacket? That was just weak.

William, I think the politics of the modern world have become insane. I think it takes a group of crazy people out of their right minds, fit for an assylum to run up an 8 trillion dollar debt. And, to do it without a care in the world, also makes them the most irresponcible, foolish, flakes of the century.
