Gravel finally explains strange Web video

ABC News' Jonathan Greenberger Reports: To the untrained eye, it looks like video of a man staring into a camera, then picking up a rock and dropping it into a lake.

Yet it's been analyzed in the New York Times and Los Angeles Times , mocked by Jon Stewart, and viewed by hundreds of thousands of people.

So what exactly is it?

In an exclusive interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week," longshot Democratic presidential candidate Mike Gravel finally gave his explanation for the "metaphor" behind his widely seen and much discussed Web ad, "Rock."

"It's a metaphor not only for a presidential candidate, for any citizen," said Gravel, whose presidential campaign barely registers in the polls. "The ripples, the ripples. It's a metaphor, George. The ripples show the effect, and then you march off into the horizon."

It's confusing, but it may also be smart strategy for a presidential candidate with low name recognition, even less money, and virtually no chance of winning anything.

Gravel admitted he's been surprised by the attention "Rock" has received online and off -- it has even spawned an animated spoof -- and says he plans to capitalize on the success with a sequel.

"There's another one coming," he said.

The blogosphere is waiting.

This is the only guy who takes pride in disabling his own military. He also is militantly anti-war (har har!) and says that Barack Obama has no moral backbone, despite Obama's vote against continued funding. Rather, he would have the Senate vote day after day to repeal funding drawing things out endlessly while not doing anything else. Not that Congress is doing much of anything else anyway...

This interview was one of the weirdest I have seen. Gravel looked like he was on something with his topo..and Stephanopoulos's body language was always off (the way he was reclining in his chair as if he knew he was assisting in the elaboration of a train wreck). At the end he seemed to jubilate at what he had just captured though.

I just wonder why This Week tied Gravel with Ron Paul, knowing how the media has been determined not to publicize the guy Michelle Malkin sees as a stain in the GOP.

Gravel and Paul are the only ones not members of the CFR, (Council on Foreign Relations for all of you who like to act like you know what you're talking about), if a candidate is a member of the CFR, DO NOT VOTE FOR THEM!! John F. Kennedy warned of the very thing that this country is going through with our leaders and what motivates and controls them, JFK was not a member of CFR and he also gave his entire Presidential salary to charity. These two guys know what their talking about, instead of trash talking, listen to what they are saying and try and prove them wrong. It salute these guys for having the guts to go against the others, the others are not being truthful and make empty promises with a hidden agenda. They are the only ones who have the courage and ability to make the current administration answer for their crimes against humanity, not a single one of the other candidates will even mention this let alone make the responsible people answer to their crimes. Before you choose a candidate, find the truth, let's not let another evil doer become our President and destroy innocent lives.

Why did ABC tried to make Gravel look crazy then, if he's a candidate up to par with JF Kennedy as you put it Ray?

The host was literally holding off laughter the whole time he was interviewing him, and like I said it made for a utterly bizarre segment.

Well do your selfs a favor all voted for Bush now are caring wolf stop the war? Bushes own GOP have turned against him why if they all voted for him give me a break. I think Gravel has the most Intigrity and the spirit is what I see in him.
