Kerry Rhyme Takes aim at Vitter
July 20, 2007 1:12 PM
ABC News' A'Melody Lee reports: A rhyming ditty created by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., suggests the career of a peer in the Senate may be heading downhill.
At a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fundraiser on Nantucket last weekend, Kerry recited a five line limerick that takes aim at the conservative Republican senator David Vitter, R-L.A., who is at the center of a sex scandal.
A Democratic aide close to Kerry has confirmed to ABC News that he said, "There once was a man named Vitter / Who vowed that he wasn't a quitter / But with stories of women / And all of his sinnin' / He knows his career's in the -- oh, nevermind."
Last week Vitter admitted "a serious sin" after his phone number was found on the records of Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the "DC Madam" who faces federal charges of racketeering for allegedly running a prostitution ring out of homes and hotel rooms in the Washington area.
A Democratic aide in attendance at the fundraiser tells ABC News that Kerry's joke went over well and the whole room was in stitches. The clever rhyme may just make up for another attempt at humor - the "botched joke" he delivered to California students last October.
Kerry told students at Pasedena City College they might "get stuck in Iraq," if they don't "make the most" of their education and "study hard."
The comments did not win him any favors with military veterans who interpreted those remarks as derogatory.

Kerry made a funny! That is great. Nothing wrong with it. Vitter deserves all of it a whole lot more.
Once a cheater always a cheater.

It's pretty funny. What's the controversy over, Kerry actually succeeding in being truly funny this time? I say, Bravo! Vitter gets what he deserves.

My My how the left wing democrats can get riled and gang up. If I were you (and perish the thought)I wouldn't mention any Cintons when trying to impress us

At least it seems Nantucket is the right place to be making limerick jokes.

I like the fact that the morality police for the nut roots is the Hustler himself. Couldn't be better. Its Kerry and Larry together again. Two souls with one brain between them.

I think you folks have got WAY too much time on your hands.

Republicans continue to make fun of our soldiers and veterans. I suppose you revere 6 deferment Cheney and "made other arrangements" Bush while making fun of a Silver Star winner.
No change. I remember how the veterans came home after Vietnam and the wingers spat in their faces.

Look there's Paris Hilton!
Zelda: You're funny. Great satire!

Wingers worship draft-dodgers and make limericks about purple hearts. And then slap support our troops ribbons on their bumpers and traipse around town. Why should we even engage these morally handicapped people?
And btw, nice joke senator, you had me in splits. Now, can you do one about colonoscopy?

When was the last time the Republicans had a good a decent man to admire?
Bush Sr. doesn't count. His parenting skills are in woefully inadequate.
Did ya see the montage on College Republicans? Whole bunches of young republicans supporting the war to the hilt.....someone else's...not theirs, they have no intention to serve.
Republicans don't serve...they just criticize those who do.

I'm not a big fan of Kerry but if any of you seriously think we're better off with Bush as president, then not only are you on crack, but you're supportive of treason as well. He uses the constitution as toilet paper on a regular basis, he admits to breaking the law with impunity, his administration outed a member of the CIA striclty for purposes of vengeance, which is something his own father calls treason, etc..... Wake up. I just wish Kerry would have shown some of this sparkling wit when he was running- maybe it would have helped him out a little. (And no, I'm not blindly Democratic, either. This country is desperately in need of some third parties that actually DO represent we the people.....)

John Kerry would have been the relief we won't have until we see the last of the damage done by this corrupt administration. Bush is a dumb, stubborn liar who does not come close to John Kerry's honor and integrity in any way - none. Bush has caused great harm to America and to Iraq. He deserves to be removed from office for being incompetent and evil. Vitter is a hypocrite and he will be the butt of lots of jokes because he deserves to be.

I didn’t know that Ms. Heinz had bought a sense of humor for her husband. ; )

Here's my two cents (rip away):
To face, a cold, satisfied grin
Appears on both women and men
When the other side falls
Or otherwise stalls
But the joke remains sadly on them.

There is something seriously wrong with a married man preferring a potentially disease ridden prostitute to his wife. But, if you are a Republican, you apparently do not realize this. Presumably, the forgiving geniuses in Louisiana will re-elect him, just like they re-elected that idiot Nagin. This country sure does need a house cleaning!

Vitter is a an idiot. Senator Vitter's constituents are imbeciles.

That was low John. You should keep yourself above that kind of talk. Don't stoop to their level of rhetoric. Anger will get you nowhere with that crowd.

There once was a senator
named Vitter
A man once proud and
not bitter
but astray he was led
by his other little head
and so his life wound up
in the sh##er

Kerry is a joke himself. A wimp who couldn't beat his way out of a wet paper bag. An absolute nothing until he married into money thanks to Ms. Heinz. Vitter apologized and asked for forgiveness from his wife. What else do you want him to do? Kerry also supports the other US Senator from Massachusetts
