McCain Money Woes Worsen
July 12, 2007 5:47 PM
ABC News' David Chalian reports: ABC New has learned Senator John McCain's '08 presidential campaign will report to the Federal Election Commission on Sunday that it has a little more than $2-million dollars in cash on hand.
The campaign will also report that it is carrying a little more than $1.7-million dollars in debt, according to a Republican familiar with McCain campaign finances.
The high level of debt suggests the mismanagement and wasteful spending of the Arizona senator's campaign has been even worse than initially disclosed by the campaign last week when it announced massive staff layoffs.
Part of the $1.7-million in debt is $750,000 owed to 3eDC -- the Internet consulting firm belonging to new McCain campaign manager Rick Davis -- who apparently has gone unpaid for his work in the 2nd quarter.

A mismanaged campaign would certainly indicate a mismanaged presidency to follow. I don't think we can afford another debacle. Vote Ron Paul 2008!!

The death-throws of the campaign of Stroll-through-Baghdad, Loony McCain are GREAT ENTERTAINMENT. Loony: Please drag out this process as long as possible and please, please make it as enjoyable as the rest of your AMNESTY-loving career finale.
HASTA LA VISTA, BABY!

I think that this a big pity. I wouldn't vote for McCain (my politics don't match his), but at one point I had a great deal of admiration for his independence. I still respect him, but not nearly as much. But what I really wanted to say was, this isn't an exclusive. What do they mean by "ABC has learned?" The stories been out for days.

McCain's amnesty bill killed his campaign. There's no reversing its downward spiral. How could there be? For what possible reason would the conservative base, who is strongly against his amnesty bill and knows he would try again to sneak it through if he became President, nominate him. Well, simply put, there is no reason. They wouldn't. Not under any feasible circumstances. His campaign is effectively over.

Too bad McCain didn't stay independent. He handcuffed himself to Bush and now his fortunes are going down along with Mr 27%'s.

I hope that Arizonans are fed up with McCain as well and don't re-elect him next time. He has shunned his own state and even it's returning soldiers to ever get my vote.

Sorry McCain, there was a time that I respected you. While I will always respect your service to your country and the time spent as a POW, I will now associate Illegal Immigration with your memory. If only you cared as much about your constituants as you do for those who enter our country illegally and then spit on our way of life.

John McCain had dedicated his life to the service of our country. He is the only candidate I would trust to make decisions in the best interest of all Americans instead of special interest groups. His position in the fund raising game is more an indictment of a public sucked in by Madison Avenue than his abilities. He is an American Hero who speaks the truth instead of what he thinks we want to hear. I’m voting McCain.

This is bad news, one of the main reason's I was going to vote for McCain was because I'm a big fan of his immigration and social policies. I think that illegal immigrants should be granted amnesty because they actually contribute more to our country than they take out. All of you against granting those amnesty using the immigration issue as your golden ticket for racism. Shucks, now I'll have to look elsewhere.

"I think that illegal immigrants should be granted amnesty because they actually contribute more to our country than they take out."
Based on your wrong information above, I assume that you do not work for a hospital Emergency Room, like I do.
May I please respectfully encourage you to do some research on this topic?

Amnesty has been rewarded to illegal aliens 7 times since 1986. It is wrong and unconstitutional to reward law-breakers with USA citizenship.

It's time to retire in your villa in Mexico. Enjoy your tequila.

John McCain is a great war hero and I’m sure a great military leader. As an elected leader of civilian government he had a lot to be desired. I have to admire his dedication to his cause of amnesty. It cost him the White House and hopefully his senate seat but he stood up for what he believed in. His stance on gun control and amnesty for illegal aliens killed his career. I can’t say I’m sorry to see him go. I just hope other politicians see what happened to McCain when they take a stand on gun control and amnesty for illegal aliens.

I support LEGAL immigration.
But I oppose rewarding law-breakers with USA citizenship. Amnesty has been given so many times in the past. Passing amnesty ("path to USA citizenship") only encourages more law-breakers to break our laws.
We need to enforce our laws first, not reward law-breakers.

It's sad to see McCain go so far downhill. Even though I'm a democrat, I respected him; he seemed truly independent and meant what he said. But I lost all respect for him when he decided to kowtow to Bush's ultra right-wing fringe (no longer a 'base'), and continued to support throwing away the lives of our soldiers even after it became clear Bush lied to get us to invade. Now he just seems a bit weird, and angry. Shame - probably the first republican I've ever even considered voting for - but he turned out to be like all the rest.

If the McCain Campaign is paying $750,000 for Internet Consulting as stated above then he is most certainly a true American Politician!!! Paying 100 times more than the market rate!! As long as we continue to let ALL politicians spend our taxpayer money like water then we will all pay more and more taxes!!!! They don't care about anyones taxpayer money.....their job is to spend as much of it as possible.
Back to McCain; he used to be the Republican "Maverick" and people liked him for being independent but now that he is all cozy with the right-wings he may as well just hang it up. He waited way to long to play up to them, they are on their way out now that Americans see them for waht they are.

For those people who are for illegal immigrants, just send your hard earned money to Mexico or where ever they came from to avoid all these mess. If you really want them to be by your side, marry them or adopt them and support them yourself. Please do not use the country's money to show that you care for others.

Not a big surprise to those of us who have been following McCain's steady decline. At one point I had some admiration for the senator, however, when he began pandering to the religious right and cozying up to the likes of Jerry Falwell, he lost any hope of getting my vote. You can't play both sides and get away with it. Not all voters are stupid. If he cannot manage his own campaign, how in the world is going to manage this country? Give it up Senator McCain, yours is a lost cause.

John McCain committed political suicide by chaining himself to Bush's illegal immoral war in Iraq, pure and simple.
The straight-talker wound up lying like a fool; and he keeps on lying.
Any respect I had for him in the past is long gone. As a veteran, I say of all people he should know better and he should be out front supporting the troops. Instead, he gets on his knees before clown Bush and performs grotesque acts of fealty in the hopes of one day wearing the tarnished, transferred GOP crown.
To McCain, I say good riddence.
