Obama: 'To Know Me Is To Love Me'

ABC News' Teddy Davis and Leigh Hartman Report: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Il., brashly played up the likability factor while campaigning in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

"To know me is to love me," said Obama when asked by the AP's Nedra Pickler about how he will overcome Sen. Hillary Clinton’s, D-N.Y., advantage in national public-opinion polls.

"By the end of this campaign everybody before they vote will have a pretty good sense of where the various candidates stand on the issues and who they are, and what kind of people they are,” said Obama after picking up the endorsement of Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty. "And we feel confident that once people know my background as a community organizer, as a civil rights attorney, as somebody who taught constitutional law, as a state legislator, as well as a US Senator we will do well."

In "Microtrends," a forthcoming book by Mark Penn, the Clinton pollster and strategist includes a chapter arguing that elites pay too much attention to personality. Penn believes that the bulk of voters – who are not as economically comfortable as members of the national press corps - focus more on bread-and-butter issues, an instinct which he hopes will rebound to the advantage of Clinton.

The Obama camp, of course, thinks the Illinois Democrat can go toe-to-toe with the former first lady on both style and substance. Obama was reluctant, however, to spell out how he would differ from former President Clinton.

I’m not going to re-litigate what happened back in the 90s,” Obama told ABC News. “I’m talking about what’s going to happening going forward. Bill Clinton isn’t on the ballot . . .”

More and more, it would seem that "to know" Obama, is to see through the veil of lies and puffery that the liberal media has created, and see yet another ethically challenged, money-dependent, self-promoting politician, in this case with core socialist beliefs.

You have to be kidding. Is he running for "Prom King" or president of the U.S.? How immature can you get.

Obama is a joke He can't possibly be serious. He's taking America for a ride, especially the suckers who are helping him to campaign.

Supporting Barak Obama is merely the liberals' way to prove their progressive bona fides. If he were white, at best he'd just be another average, first term U.S. Senator with "great promise". The notion that he's currently ready to be President of the United States is absurd.

General Scott Gration not only says Obama's ready to be Commander in Chief, but the General is touring Iowa with fellow vets to tell them and everyone else why they support Obama. Of course, anyone who takes the time to hear what Obama has to say will support him-but the support of military members means a lot to me. Apparently, the General's support of Obama doesn't register on The Radar.

Re-litigate what happened in the 90's?

Someone should remind Mr. Obama that he has never litigated a case.

So how can he re-litigate anything?

I see a lot of REMF's on the list, a few respectable combat vets, but not many.

Actually, the more I get to know Obama the less I like him. Just this week he's proposed universal health care that will pay for abortions, and teaching sex education to kintergardners. He opposes a ban on partial birth abortion EVEN WITH the exception added for when the mother's life is in danger.

The fact is, Obama, just like every other Democrat Presidential candidate, is about as far radical to the left as you can possibly get in this country.

Do you doubt me? Can you point to any of them that don't have a 100% approval rating from the baby-killers at NARL? Do any of them have plans other than surrender in Iraq? Do any of them want to lower your taxes? Do any of them promise to do anything to lower gas prices?

Democrats won't be picking their candidate based on the issues. They'll just be choosing their candidate American Idol style. At least we Republicans have a variety of stances on the issues to consider when choosing Fred Thompson.

LIBERAL MEDIA LIBERAL MEDIA LIBERAL MEDIA. Apparently everything that isn't Fox News is the "liberal media."

Anyway, I completely agree with Obama. Once more people learn more about him, besides the negative things we hear repeated over and over, he will get even more support. He definitely has my vote.

He wishes.....LOL.....how conceited of him. I think he's gotten a big head.

Obama is just another version of Joe LIEberman, a Republican in sheep's clothing, a warmonger. In fact, he supported and recommended Joe Lieberman in the election last year.
