Biden: Obama a 'Johnny-Come-Lately'
August 01, 2007 3:03 PM
ABC News' Brian Wheeler reports: After Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., unveiled his terrorism strategy on Wednesday, his fellow Democratic senator and presidential candidate Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., pounced, calling him a "Johnny-come-lately."
"The Biden for President Campaign today congratulated Sen. Barack Obama for arriving at a number of Sen. Biden's long-held views on combating al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Much of what Senator Obama has proposed Senator Biden has already initiated or accomplished," the Biden campaign said in a press release.
In what was billed as a "major national security address" Wednesday at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC, Obama outlined a five-point strategy to fight the global war on terror. The first of those points, he said, was to, "Get out of Iraq in order to take the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan."
"As President, I would deploy at least two additional brigades to Afghanistan to re-enforce our counter-terrorism operations and support NATO's efforts against the Taliban," Obama said.
The Biden campaign quickly countered that Biden had recommended the same strategy in January when President Bush was preparing to begin the troop surge in Iraq. "If we're surging troops anywhere, it should be in Afghanistan," Biden told the Washington Post at the time.
Obama also stated today he would make aid to Pakistan conditional on that country's performance as an ally to the United States, tracking down terrorists and enforcing its border with Afghanistan.
However Biden said today that that provision already exists, in the 9/11 bill he co-authored that was passed last week by Congress.

Obama proposes to pull out of one Muslim country where we fight al-Qaeda today, and invade another Muslim country (which has nukes!) to fight al-Qaeda, with or without Musharraf's approval.
Sounds like a dangerous, imperialist, unilateralist "Cowboy" to me!

Its amazing that an individual with such little experience on foreign policy and goverment in general can be polling so well in the early going. Its like making a member of town council with money President. After the "experience" mistake our country made by electing G.W. Bush; it would seem crazy people would be willing to do it again with obama. I like him too but this election is too important for little experience go to the Senate for a couple terms or be a Governor first.

Obama has less experience than John Edwards had in 2004--who had less experience than Dan Quayle had in 1988!
Scary that this newbie has such high poll numbers.
It is a sound bet that, come January 2009, he'll be one heartbeat away from the Presidency as Hill's veep. Yikes!

Quote Obama "with or without the permission of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. "I understand that President Musharraf has his own challenges," Obama said, "but let me make this clear. There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans . . . "Message is loud and clear and has been heard over the international borders. India has been more reliable, trusted and cherished partner in Asia, than pakistan had been in WAR on Terror.
Would obama had allowed or ojected, if India had targeted and attacked on Alqaida and terrorists stationed on Kasmir border?

in Most of these polls, they don't show you the questions asked, or who paid to have them done. These polls cost tens of thousands of dollars. Whos picking up the tab. I could do a poll and make it come out the way I wanted. Did you ever wonder why they release them to the public? I'm glad Obama is showing his true colors early. We don't have to make another mistake on a persons real intentions.

why doesn't this prompt any dialogue on Biden? he has more experience than half of the field combined, and if you actually watch the debates, he is definitive, consitent, pragmatic, straight forward and doesn't pander. he and ron paul are the only candidates that can be said about, in either party...
and on obama, speak to the issue, he didn't say he was going to attack pakistan, he said if there was proof of an al quaeda stronghold he would deal with it, with or without the paki government. that was his point. stop twisting this around. people need to stop beating their drums, belittling each other, or launching infantile attacks and, instead, listen to the candidates.

Biden is a traitor and a liar.
Biden was meeting with the pakistan ISI leader on and around 9/11. This is the man who wired atta the $100,000 for the 9/11 attacks.
Biden should be put under oath and asked about those meetings with the pakistan isi and his involvement with it.
This sketchy behavior from Biden does not make him vice presidential material by any stretch.
Anything Biden says about foreign relations can not be trusted to be in the best interests of the American people.
