Karl Rove to resign at end of August
August 13, 2007 4:17 AM
ABC News' Jake Whitman reports: Presidential advisor Karl Rove is resigning as White House deputy chief of staff effective Aug. 31. LINK
The President and Rove are expeced to make a statement to reporters at approximately 11:30 a.m. this morning, as Bush prepares to leave Washington and head to his ranch in Crawford Texas.
In an interview with Paul Gigot, the Wall Street Journal's editorial page editor, published Monday, President Bush's longtime political advisor says he is returning to Texas at the end of this month.
Rove has held a senior post in the White House since President Bush took office in January 2001.
"I just think it's time," Mr. Rove said in the interview. "There's always something that can keep you here, and as much as I'd like to be here, I've got to do this for the sake of my family."
Gigot reports Rove decided to leave after White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten told senior aides that if they stayed past Labor Day they would be obliged to remain through the end of the president's term in January 2009.

"I just think it's time," Mr. Rove said in the interview.
Yeah, well, I think its long past time for another high-ranking criminal, er, advisor.

Not so fast You have an appointment with a judge and jury before you crawl back into the hole you came from. After you're frog-marched in cuffs by federal marshalls for the entertainment of the American people you despise so much...your trial for treason will be quick and decisive, and your cell is ready and waiting.

IF he resigns, where does executive priviledge leave him? Does he absolutely have to talk then?

Gotta wonder though, how many more senior aides are gonna quit before Labor Day

Things must be getting too hot for Rove. They must be getting too close to the truth in DC. This guy has so much to hide he will probably leave the country and exile himself somwhere remote (but luxurious) after he leaves DC. Next we'll hear Cheney is resigning (because of family of course). That will leave poor lil' ol' Georgie to fend for himself. Should be interesting. Should be a good lesson for Georgie - play with rats and you get bitten. Although it takes a rat to play with rats.

Obviously Rove is now more a political liability to Bush than any grand "strategery" he might be producing. However, it's amusing that the man whom the Left and the MSM have labeled as evil as Grigori Rasputin and Joseph Goebbels, has similar poll numbers (29 Fav/49 Unfav) to Dirty Harry Reid (27 Fav/43 Unfav) and San Fran Nan Pelosi (40 Fav/47 Unfav). Who now gets to be the fall guy or gal for the Bush Administration? Gonzo should serve the purpose for at least another three months. After that????

Impeach Cheney, then go for Bush. Enough of this "off the table" mumbo jumbo. Every day with Bush/Cheney in office is another day wasted when progress could be made.

What bothers me most is that every time the congress committees want info from the white house they automatically claim executive privilege. One would think that people would start to think that is scary because it seems they are hiding a lot of things that are going on.
