Rove's Plastic-Wrapped Surprise
August 29, 2007 9:15 AM
ABC News' Ann Compton and Jennifer Duck report: When out-going White House adviser Karl Rove returns from a trip to New Orleans with the President onboard Marine One Wednesday afternoon, he'll get a surprise when he tries to drive home.
His car, parked on West Executive Avenue in a prime spot near the White House, has been shrouded in plastic wrap, with two stuffed eagles mounted on the trunk and an Obama bumper sticker slapped onto the car.
Watch video of Rove's car HERE.
The prank is a goodbye gift of sorts for Rove, who is retiring on Friday.
However members of Rove's young White House staff are not claiming responsibility ... yet.
At the end of the day, the White House permitted children to unwrap Rove's Jaguar. Like Christmas in August, they peeled away the plastic wrap and post-it notes.
Rove appeared to take the prank good-naturedly, and was seen laughing afterwards with White House economic advisor Al Hubbard and White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten.

Why didn't I think of that? BTW, that's plain plastic wrap, not shrink wrap.

Is there something behind this joke? I think that as is par for the course with the Bush administration. Those in the administration get it. The rest of us don't. And yet, they don't mind that we are laughing at them. I would want people to laugh with me not at me. But, I guess they don't mind. I just say a hearty thank you to all those who voted for them. And thanks to the short sighted media who can not cover politics in a meaningful manner. They can only keep up with two candidates. If the media would open their eyes and cover more parties, maybe better people could be encouraged to run. Maybe we could have real politics instead of an either the devil or satan as choices. The media needs to step up its game for the coming election and cover more the just the Republicrats and Democans.

everything is a joke with these neo-cons, the damage they've done and the pain they've caused - and they think its just funny. rove should be tried for treason and then executed.

They should have shrink wrapped Rove.

If his young staff were the perpetrators, are they signaling that they have seen the light on the horizon, and may be pandering for a future position in the next administration by placing the Obama sticker on the bumper?

Knowing Rove, he'll probably try to have the culprits prosecuted and sent to Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo Bay. Neocons have absolutely no semse of humor.
If they had wrapped HIM in Saran wrap, stuffed an eagle in his mouth, slapped an Obama sticker on his butt and thrown him into the Potomac...that would have been funny.

The stupid "jackass" generation which responds to these kinds of pranks have this man to look up to and Rove always delivers.

My my. All these comments from those who say they are from the party of tolerance and understanding.
You people the joke.

Your comments about Rove and the Bush administration are pathetically OLD, STALE and potentially illustrative of the ignorance that you hold so dear and protect so much.
No matter how much I may despise the Clintons, Gores, Kerrys, etc. I realize that these people politically are qualified or they would not have gotten to where they are.
Bush more than successfully governed one of the country's largest states (Texas, for those that didn't know) and I hardly remember Gore or Kerry with any governing experience? And wasn't Clinton's mostly despised by his own home state for his governing? Maybe I am mistaken, however, the respect is still there for liberals I do not agree, but you libs have no respect for anyone or anything, including your own sanity.

I see the "tolerant" liberals are showing thier usual form of behavior - wishing the man to die, hoping he gets murdered or assasinated. Apparently the Daily Kos and the Huffington Post lets these people out every so often. Hate will only get you so far.
Disgusting. So typical of the new Democrat party.

Interesting that the comments left by those of us who deplore these comments by the liberals are getting deleted.

It should be covered with the names of all the Special Interest Groups he helped with lucrative government contracts and a set of bull horns on the front grill in honor of his buddy Georgie.

I know progressives are full of hate, but not to that degree. Wow. Still, I'm surprised that they used plastic. Not very environmentally friendly. Should have used paper instead. Kind of like those environmentalists who burn whole car dealerships and blacken the skies with massive clouds of pollution and chemical filled smoke, to make a statement on protecting the environment. Same thing with the "Death to Rove" progressives.

Whine, Here's some Cheese,
For those who know and those who don't please listen,
Truth doesn't hide in Plastic wrap, it stands the test of time. Bush's Failures will be seen with time, albeit that too many neocon's wont agree, and to the Dem's don't forget that you have your painted history as well, None of these parties are truthfully for "The People"; but that's why parties were established anyway, not to Unite, but to Divide, I hope one day ALL of you will FINALLY grow up and realize that until we Drop PARTY AFFILIATION and Unite as a people similar to how we did Just after Pearl Harbor and 9/11 we will always hurt ourselves.

Liberals are mad at Rove?? Maybe it's also quite a few of us conservatives that Rove and his boss, GW, and the rest of this band of thieves who have given a bad name to.
Posted by: Roy | Aug 29, 2007 12:09:43 PM
Liberals, if they would think about it, should be very happy with Rove and GW. Those goons have set conservativism back a generation.
Posted by: Roy | Aug 29, 2007 12:11:46 PM
Not much of a surprise when you're reporting about it right here. Perhaps next we can shrink wrap Rove, put him in a box and mail him to Afghanistan.
Posted by: chicagopoetry | Aug 29, 2007 12:14:58 PM
or, wrap the car with Rove inside
Posted by: nick | Aug 29, 2007 12:39:17 PM
The money they spent on the shrink wrap and the eagles could have gone to a family in New Orleans who is struggling to buy food for the family because they lost their house, job and possesions in Katrina. Joke or not, I suggest the White House staff uses their time and resources more wisely in the future. Goodbye, Karl Rove, another member of this cabinet thankfully "retired".
