Ads War Escalates Between Giuliani and MoveOn.org
September 18, 2007 3:05 PM
ABC News' Jan Simmonds Reports: The ad wars continue between the grassroots organization MoveOn.org and Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani.
MoveOn.org , an anti-war advocacy group, announced Tuesday it is increasing its buy to run their ad against Giuliani nationally.
The ad, which has been running in Iowa, is titled, "Giuliani, A Betrayal of Trust," and says Giuliani left the Iraq Study Group to make money on the speaking circuit.
"When Giuliani had the chance to actually do something about the war, he went AWOL," the TV ad states. "Republican voters should ask: Giuliani: where were you when it counted?"
MoveOn, which has already spent $50,000 to air the ad in Iowa , will now spend $50,000 more for the national air time on the CNN cable network, bringing the total buy to $100,000.
On Tuesday the Giuliani campaign announced they would be launching their own anti-MoveOn.org ad on Iowa radio today.
"Why is MoveOn attacking Rudy Giuliani?" the ad states. "Because he’s their worst nightmare. They know Rudy is a Republican who can beat the Democrats. And they know, no matter what they say- Rudy will never, ever back down."
MoveOn.org sharply criticized the former New York mayor, blasting the ad.
"It's no surprise that Giuliani can't respond to our charge that he went AWOL on Iraq. Maybe he thinks voters care more about MoveOn than ending the war -- but I doubt it," said Eli Pariser, Executive Director of MoveOn.org Political Action.

Actually I think that that war on our home front is almost more important than than the war in Iraq. I think that the infiltration of an American organization to take up a cause as that co-exists with the mind set as the the enemy that attacked us is wrong. How easy is it to put the Moveon.org and Al-Quida next to each other and find so many similarities. One thing that the liberal mind set doesn't look at is when Al-Quida arrives here and give them a big thank you hug that allowed them so much support, then tells them to bow to Allah and denounce the very liberal thoughts and life style that the so love or be punished or beheaded, then and only then will they wake up and see the error of their ways. If it wasn't so serious, I might find humor in the fact that the enemy may side more with the Christian right than the Liberal left.
