Bush to Address Nation on Iraq

ABC News' Sara Just reports: The President is asking the television news networks for time to make a speech to the nation at 9 pm on Thursday night.

The speech will be 15-20 minutes.  He will be speaking alone from the White House.

He will "incorporate and respond to testimony" from Army General David Patraeus and Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker" on the way forward in Iraq.

What's the point of this speech? We all know what he's going to say: "Stay the course," "the surge is working," "Iraq is the central front on the war on terror," "if we leave, the terrorists will win," etc. Those who believe him don't need to be convinced, and those who don't won't change their minds because of another speech.
