Giuliani Deputy Campaign Finance Director Steps Down
September 26, 2007 6:28 PM
ABC News' Jan Simmonds reports: The Rudy Giuliani presidential campaign confirmed today that Anne Dunsmore, its deputy campaign finance director, has left the campaign.
Dunsmore, who took control of Giuliani's day-to-day fundraising operation in May, was released from the campaign just days before the important third quarter fundraising period is to come to a close. The campaign did not give any specific reasons for her dismissal, but according to Communications Director Katie Levinson the "departure is amicable."
Giuliani has quickly appointed a replacement for Dunsmore though in the hiring of Jim Lee, a Bush ally who already was part of "Team Giuliani" as one of his national finance co-chairs.
"We thought Jim Lee would spread us out, even more nationally," said Giuliani at an event in Bridgewater, NJ, Tuesday evening. "He has been an enormously successful fundraiser for us."
While dismissing the head of your fundraising operation is usually a bad sign for a campaign, Giuliani is believed to have done quite well in the third quarter.
"I think we’ll end up having a very good quarter," added Giuliani Tuesday evening. "Probably one of the best of the Republicans."
The former New York Mayor also took time to comment on the reported $9.11 fundraiser some of his supporters had organized in California, saying it was a "mistake."
"It was an unfortunate thing to do, they shouldn’t have done it that way. I think it was only two or three of them that did it and they stopped."
Giuliani added that the campaign "will not accept any contributions that are denominated 9 dollars and 11 cents."
"We have put a block on our system that even if someone does that by mistake, we won’t do that too," said Giuliani.
Later this evening Giuliani heads to Wachtung, New Jersey, where he will take part in a live webcast for his campaign’s "National House Party Night". There will be 1,000 house parties across the country were supporters will get behind the former mayor, both financially and physically.

Anger at Giuliani 9/11 fundraiser
Mr Giuliani is accused of exploiting 9/11 for his presidential candidacy
Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani has been criticised over a fundraising party at which participants are being urged to donate $9.11.
The International Association of Fire Fighters accuses him of exploiting the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks.
Mr Giuliani rose to national prominence as New York's mayor on 9/11.
The Giuliani campaign says it did not plan the event, which is due to take place on Wednesday evening in California at the home of a supporter.

Two thoughts: 1. I wonder if Rudy's previous affairs and multiple marriages had anything to do with Dunsmore leaving?
2. I previously posted that I thought the proposed fund raiser was blasphemous and I highly doubt that he didn't have prior knowledge of it. Even the host of the party now says it wasn't his idea. If that is truly the case , not knowing what's going on with a simple campaign organization, what happens if he were to be elected?

Mr Dylan is obviously a Democrat and I'm sure a Hillary Clinton supporter!
Here's a question for you Mr Dylan.
Why in heavans name would anyone vote back in the people(Hillary and Bill Clinton)whose Attorney General and her assistant were responsible for putting up the "wall" between the CIA and FBI that caused the 9/11 plot to go unnoticed! Rather than being to blame for 9/11 as are the Clintons and their
appointees, Rudy Guilani held the great city of New York together during its darkest hours! Where in the weeks and months immediately following the attack were Senator Clinton and Senator Schumer? The answer is they were No Where to be Found! The fundraiser fiasco is just a case of a few overzealous campaign workers making a mistake!

Ernest,
I know getting your facts straight from FOX is comforting to your dying right wing ideology and it is remarkable how much Rudy Giuliani has become like George Bush. An article in Rolling Stone claims he is worse, but Giuliani still shares far too many traits with George Bush to be considered to be president. The number one trait they both share is a total disregard for the truth.
Reports of Giuliani campaigning in Florida demonstrate how much like George Bush he has become:
‘’I believe that leading Democratic candidates and the Democratic party are in denial of the threat that we face,'’ Giuliani said. “The world is a dangerous place. If you can’t face it, you can’t lead.'’
Giuliani railed against Democrats in Washington pushing for a deadline to withdraw troops from Iraq. He also predicted that a Democratic president would bring higher taxes and “socialized medicine.'’
That’s a lot of noise coming from a member of the party which denied the risks of terrorism right up until the 9/11 attack, and then screwed up the response. John Kerry had written a book on the dangers of terrorism well before 9/11. Bill Clinton attempted to go after bin Laden, but was blocked by the Republican controlled Congress. Clinton then passed on plans for going after al Qaeda, but the Bush administration ignored them, not believing that a non-governmental organization could do serious harm to the United States. The leader of the Republican party even ignored intelligence briefs shortly before 9/11 warning that bin Laden planned to attack the United States using planes.
Giuliani’s personal record on terrorism is no better. Rudy’s the genius who placed New York’s emergency command center in the World Trade Center after we knew it was the target of terrorist attacks. His understanding of terrorism is so weak that he actually argued with Ron Paul over his simple statement that US involvement in the middle east was a motivating factor behind the attacks. If Giuliani really believes that they attacked for no more reason than hating us for our freedoms, how can he ever do anything to solve the root causes, as even Republican Secretary of Defense Robert Gates now advises?
Just as Giuliani echoes Bush on the claims about terrorism, his comments on health care resemble Bush’s false claim that John Kerry’s health care plan would amount to a government take over of health care. Kerry’s plan was a voluntary plan to assist businesses and individuals to obtain health coverage at an affordable price. Since then two states have instituted health plans with greater government regulations, and both had Republican governors.
While Giuliani brings out the scare stories of “socialized medicine” there is not a single Democrat running who wants to eliminate our system of privately run medical practices and hospitals. There’s not even a serious candidate advocating moving to a single payer plan, unless you believe that Dennis Kucinich has a chance of winning.
What Giuliani and the Republicans won’t admit is that it is the Republicans, not the Democrats, who have instituted a greater degree of government control over health care. It is the Republicans who wish to intervene in a woman’s right to an abortion as well as restrict access to Plan B and to birth control. It is the Republicans who harass physicians who prescribe narcotics to treat chronic pain, and who fight to prevent the use of medicinal marijuana. It was the Republicans who got the government involved in end of life decisions in the Terri Schiavo case. It was a Republican President who devised the current Medicare D plan which is primarily a monetary reward to the pharmaceutical and insurance industries for their huge contributions.
If we are to oppose “socialized medicine” and get the government out of health care, the way to do that is to keep the Republicans out of office

honesty first
politics second--has that ever been?

Giuliani is trying to turn the 9-11 attack into his own political victory. What does he have to offer? He favors more gun control laws and opening borders to more illegal aliens. Why would we want him? Even his own staff is bailing on him.

Tumbleweedin. — Who would you support if Ron Paul doesn’t win the nomination? I would vote for Ron Paul too but he might not win the nomination. What then? He may well be the best choice, not the only one. Wouldn’t Thompson be better than Clinton or Beebe better than Obama? Your fanaticism may help Hillary get elected by running down everyone but Paul.

Don,
That is some major kooliad your drinking there. Not a single thing you stated is backed bt one shred of evidence. Not one credible source cited to back your statements. This is what you all do including the Dem politicians. Well Sir, I challenge you here and now Back it up or shut up...but then again you can keep on showing everyone how ignorant you really are.
Example..
Quote: "It was the Republicans who got the government involved in end of life decisions in the Terri Schiavo"
For your info, tens of thousands of Floridians raised their voices in support of Terri Schiavo's right to live. If it where your ass in the sling I bet you would want some one to try and rescue you.
Now here is how you finish a statement Don. PUT IN A RELIABLE SOURCE!!!!
Now I believe you don't know what that is so instead of sending you to the Florida Supreme Court and Florida legislature website I will give your most probable source CNN
You see it is the Govenments job to listen to the people and Jeb did but was only able to delay her death because of the way the laws are written.
So where is your source for all the other garbage you spewed as truth!!

The biggest threat to Hillary is Giuliani, and that's why he is being attacked for a 9/11 fund-raising prank committed by overzealous supporters. I'm no Republican, but Giuliani was a superb leader of NYC before 9/11. Being mayor of NYC is a more difficult position than being governor of any state. What has Hillary done to demonstrate leadership? She can guarantee a two-for-one presidency! Alex
