ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf Reports: None of the 2008 presidential candidates will have a better soap box for airing their opinions on Gen. Petraeus' report to Congress than Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, the ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee.

Though Hunter is far from a front-runner in the 2008 candidate pool, the congressman has serious national security chops.

As the panel's ranking GOP member, Hunter was the first Republican who got the mic at today's hearing.

"One of the great assets of this country is the professionalism and the capability and the integrity of the people who lead our armed forces," said Hunter at the outset of the hearing. "General Petraeus is coming back, not just as guy who's going to give us his take on the Iraq situation, but as the leader of more than 160,000 American personnel in uniform in Iraq."

Hunter is a great supporter of the war in Iraq generally, the surge and General Petraeus specifically and took his opportunity to stick up for Gen. Petraeus, who he said is not getting a fair shake by anti-war groups. Moveon.org took out a full page ad in the New York Times today that read, "General Petraeus or General Betray Us."

Hunter continued: "They're not only watching his testimony, but they're also watching our testimony. They're watching how we treat him. They're watching this Congress to see if we give credibility to what people in uniform say."

"And so, Mr. Chairman, I think it's an outrage that we spent the last week prepping the ground, bashing the credibility of a general officer whose trademark is integrity, who was unanimously supported by the U.S. Senate for his position. And unanimity in the U.S. Senate is almost a majority these days."

Does MoveOn claim to be a tax exempt entity?

What forms do they file with the IRS?

Where is a look at their internal expenditures made available?

What evidence of double-checking their books by an objective third party is there, to date?

Have they ever accepted money from the Hsu leftist Chinese campaign chest?

What travel and entertainment expenditures of contributions do they make?

What percentage of contributions are from foreign sources?

Are those sources logged by nation, political affiliation, or original sourcing?

What reports have they filed with the FEC on their ads and marketing, in line with McCain-Feingold during the time such law was applicable to 3rd party political action?

What percentage of their funding comes from Hollywood elites, leftist labor unions, tenured college academics, and civil servants?

Are their own offices unionized, and if not, why not?

If they are unionized, how many shop stewards do they have for every MoveOn staffer?

Anyone?

Anyone at all?
