Romney Slams Clinton on Health Care

ABC News' Matt Stuart reports: Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney held a last minute press conference Monday, criticizing Sen. Hillary Clinton's universal health plan before it had even officially been unveiled.

Basing his comments on early reports, Romney immediately related Clinton's current plan to the her attempts at securing universal health care as first lady saying, "2.0 is not likely to have any more success than 1.0."

Romney took aim at Clinton's proposal saying she "doesn't believe in the American people," and that the difference between their plans was "night and day."

He claimed that Clinton's plan expands government programs to help cover the uninsured and would roll back President Bush's tax cuts. "Her plan relies on...government insurance rather than private," he said, arguing that his plan would rely on the private market to guide healthcare.

Clinton's plan builds on the system of private insurance.  But for those who are not covered by employers, the former first lady would offer expanded versions of two existing government programs: Medicare and the health insurance plan currently offered to federal employees.  Consumers who don't have private insurance could choose between either government-run program.

Romney regularly calls for the Bush tax cuts to remain in place.  "Mine does not raise taxes," Romney said, adding that he was able to pass universal health care in Massachusetts without raising taxes.

Romney's criticism of Clinton and her attempt at health care reform is a regular part of his stump speech.  At a campaign stop in Iowa in August, Romney said he couldn't wait to debate Clinton on health care if he wins the nomination, bragging his Massachusetts plan actually passed.

Mitt Romney already brought health care to ALL the citzens of Massachusetts WITHOUT raising taxes. The difference between Mitt and Hillary is that Mitt is a very successful business man who knows how to run things. Hillary is a politician that hasn't even run a "corner store" and thinks she can run the largest enterprise in the world, the American economy. No Thanks Hillary Rotten-Clinton...........NEXT!

Romney's plan has worked well. Hillary's plan would ruin America.

Romney is a flip flopper who is going to try and buy the national election with 50 or 60 million of his OWN money. I noticed that Romney and Rudy seem so obsessed with Hillary. Between the 2 of them, they seem to attack her daily. Could it be that they are worried? Neither seem to have anything to run on other than attacking the other side (namely the other side's front runner). Sad!

Let's take a look at this-It's all about the big insurance corps and the $$ they are bringing in to Mrs. Clinton. If you notice, there was a small govt. based healthcare mention, but that wasn't loudly trumpeted.

OK everyone. Romney's plan is so much better and is working in Mass. Hillary or whoever the dem fontrunner will be, wants socialized medicine for us and raise our taxes. This kind of medicine does not work in Canada, france, Sweden or any other country that has it. Where do they come????They come to USA to get their surgeries etc. Think about it
