Ad Tells Voters Paul Is More Than Anti-War Candidate
October 12, 2007 12:42 PM
ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf Reports: Republican Congressman Ron Paul has fashioned his presidential campaign around the fiscally responsible, small government, libertarian principles he espouses. As a result, he doesn't spend campaign coin until after he has raised it. He raised just over $5 million last quarter.
In his first major outlay this quarter, Paul will spend $430,000 this weekend with a radio ad buy in the early primary states. While it is his stance against the Iraq war that has gained him the most attention in the media (and sets him apart from the rest of the Republican field), the radio ad the Paul campaign is airing makes no mention of Iraq or even foreign policy.
A narrator asks, "Who is Ron Paul, Republican candidate for President?" It goes on to describe his career as an OB-GYN, his military service as a flight surgeon, an his strong anti-tax record.
The ad will start airing this weekend in Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Text of the ad:
Narrator: Who is Ron Paul, Republican candidate for president. Ron Paul served his country as a flight surgeon after the Cuban missile crisis. As a young doctor, Ron Paul worked nights in the emergency room of an inner city hospital, talking care of everyone, whether they could pay or not.
As an OB-GYN Ron Paul delivered over 4,000 babies.
As a doctor, Ron Paul knows our healthcare system needs real change, where patients and doctors are in charge, not big corporations or government bureaucrats. As a Congressman for almost two decades, Ron Paul knows our Constitution is there to protect our freedom and limit government in our lives.
He has never voted for a tax increase or an unbalanced budget. His record clearly shows he will cut taxes and stop runaway spending. People who know him call him the taxpayer’s best friend.

Paul: I'm Ron Paul and I approved this message.

You know who will suffer under a Ron Paul administration...people who dont want to work, people who expect to be taken care of, people who think that the welfare system is thier right and corporations who expect to be bailed out when they run into trouble
Power to the masses! These are exciting times!!

You know what's amazing....I have friends and family who have become Republicans!! This has never happened before in my family...my family has been die-hard Democrats since the 40s...
I guess this is what is meant by "grass roots organic growth"

Everyone running for the Republican ticket (except for Paul) and everyone running for the Democratic ticket(except for Kucinich) say the same things...hmmmm...wonder why that is...I would put Gravel in the minority - but he seems too scary for me...
Anyway - I think we should all educate ourselves to what is truly right for the country...not Wall Street, not the Pentagon, not the evil idiots who want to turn the US into part of some North American union. We can make our voices heard...via Ron Paul...its up to you....
Dont blame those who voted for Paul when we start using Ameros instead of the greenback, when we watch TV and find out that we just bombed Iran or someother "we-did-it-because-they-are-terrorists" nonsense

Wow! Good and fair article! (Not the norm.) For the first time in my life, I'm not voting for the least of 2 evils. Please get the word out about Ron Paul as most people have given up on any hope of there being a decent politician to back.

Any patriot will fight to uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights!
Know of any patriots in D.C.?
Yup, Ron Paul!

I live in Ireland and it is obvious to me that the current U.S Government and most of the current nominees are intent on pushing us into Global Meltdown, politically and economically.
Ron Paul speaks the TRUTH. He is the only hope for the U.S and world.
