Cheney Embarks on Annual Hunting Trip
October 29, 2007 11:09 AM
ABC News' Jennifer Duck Reports: As Vice President Cheney embarks on his annual hunting trip today, it's hard to forget what happened last year when the Wyoming native accidentally shot a good friend while hunting quail in Texas.
The Vice President shot his hunting companion Harry Whittington in the torso, neck and face. President Bush openly jokes about the February 2006 shooting accident which landed Whittington in the hospital for six days.
While visiting St. Michaels, Maryland last week, President Bush said, "The Vice President tells me there's a lot of fine fishing here, and I'm looking forward to going out and trying to catch some. I love to fish. And the good news there's a lot of good fishing here is because the Secret Service won't let me go hunting with him."
The accident was kept from the press and most senior staff for a few days.
Shortly after the accident, Vice President Cheney explained it was "one of the worst days" of his life. "...the image of him falling is something I'll never be able to get out of my mind. I fired, and there's Harry falling. And it was, I'd have to say, one of the worst days of my life, at that moment," Vice President Cheney said last year.
The Vice President has been hunting a few times since the accidental shooting. Cheney will go hunting near Poughkeepsie, NY today.

This moron has business even looking at a weapon...and whoever goes on a hunting trip with this idiot is just as stupid.

Has Homeland Security raised the threat level to "red", or haven't they discovered that V.P. Cheney is armed again?

Cheney is going hunting again? Now, that might be a real terrorist threat. I hope this reporter, Jennifer Duck, stays completely out of range!

Maybe we will get lucky and they'll take that Iowa dog that shot the hunter with them on this trip.
I wonder if he bothered to get a hunting license this year. Oh, I forgot, of course not, he's above all the laws. Silly me.

Isn't it ironic that he'll never be able to get the image of Harry falling out of his mind, but he can so easily block out the horrible images we're all living with because of this administration's policies. I bet it was a pretty bad day for Harry, too! Maybe while he's out there shooting birds for sport, he'll consider the African children and their mothers waiting in line for their Plumpy Nut ration. Maybe, if he's a true Christian, the image of Christ on the cross will be emblazoned on his mind. Fellow Christians and all believers, please pray for him and all enemies of peace. Pray for him and Bush, for the Iraqis, for our troops, for our enemies. Christ forgave us. Forgive Cheney and pray for him as we've been called to do. God hears our cries.

One of the worst days in Cheney's life???
Probably ranked right up there as one of the worst for the guy he shot.
If Dick "Five Deferment because I had better things to do" Cheney would have spent some time in the Military, he might have learned a little about gun safety.

VP Aaron Burr shot and killed political opponent Alexander Hamilton, and beat the murder charge.
VP Cheney shot a friend, face to face, and said he was sorry, six days later.
Burr was later charged with treason. Will history repeat itself?

I think we may have found those weapons of mass destruction and that's Dick Cheney.
I'm shocked that DHS, hasn't raised the threat level when Cheney on the go or when he has a gun.

Gee, I thought Dick's worst day was when Nixon was forced to resign.
