Clinton Supports Filibuster on the FISA Bill
October 24, 2007 12:46 AM
ABC News' Eloise Harper: Speaking to reporters in Denver, CO Senator Clinton (D-NY) said that she would back a filibuster for the controversial FISA bill. "As matters stand now I could not support it and I would support a filibuster absent additional information coming forth that would convince me differently."
Senator Dodd (D-CT) has said he would block a Senate vote on the bill. Dodd said he would use his senatorial hold power to prevent the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act legislation for being considered by the full Senate.
Clinton today stated "I am troubled by the concerns that have been raised by the recent legislation reported out of the Intelligence Committee. I haven't seen it so I can't express an opinion about it - but I don't trust the Bush administration with our civil rights and liberties."
The contentious issue is a White House-supported bill that would give immunity to telecom carriers who are being sued for allegedly aiding the NSA spy on Americans after 9/11. It is part of a larger bill to rework FISA legislation
Senator Harry Reid has said that he would withhold his support until seeing the White House documents that could explain why this immunity would be needed.

Well, I guess Clinton knows the politics of this issue pretty well. That's good.

Why do you insinuate that the eavesdropping started after 9-11? You press types make me sick. It has been corroborated that the request to the telecomm firms came in February of 2001! Not after 9-11-2001! This eavesdropping program was part of the de-funded TIA (Total Information Awareness) program concocted by Admiral Poindexter.
Do your jobs right. I hate this press. You guys are terrible.
